Wednesday, February 27, 2008 I just got a new addition to the family. It's a Philips. ![]() From now on my diet will consist solely on fluids. Not. But I will be doing more juices. With my new gift I got a free DVD titled Jason Vale, the Juice Master, Keeping it Simple! I will be watching the happy and smiling, probably because he is the World's leading juicing health coach, Mr. Vale (not one of many juice people but the only juice master) make Simple Gorgeous Smoothies, Super Simple Juices, Quick Healthy Snacks, Kids' Stuff, Juice - Fast!, Easin Cleaning of My Juicer and the one I am particularly excited about; The Gold Fish - The Easy Explanation of Health and Disease. The Gold Fish bit gives me an immediate association with this art work by Evaristti ![]() which gives the Explanation of Health and Disease a certain depth. This master Jason has written seven best selling books on juicing, health and addiction. I guess that is where the catchy title "Keeping it Simple!" comes from. Anyways. You know I love gadgets. I luuuuuv gadgets. And electric gadgets are fun fun fun. Of all my electric gadgets, I have to admit, nothing brings me to the higts of pleasure like this one: ![]() I never found an electric gadget that could substitude a good shag. I knew you were wondering. Labels: My electric gadgets posted by Skotta | 10:43 PM |Tuesday, February 26, 2008 Okay, I'll admit it. I am only blogging to avoid having to move the big and heavy latex matress on my bed and putting a bedsheat on it. AB is out playing with one of his old buddies. The one who took the longest to grow up (not there yet) and smoked pot on a daily basis until his girlfriend dumped him a few months back. Then he decided to become abstinent. I come from a culture where almost 40 year olds who still smoke pot are called junkies who are in need of a stint in rehab. The Icelandic take on it is basically that if you are still doing, at almost 40, the things you did when you were 16, on a daily basis, except for eating, shitting, bathing and/or excersizing, you probably can't stop doing them without professional help. Let me refraise this: When I lived in Iceland, the Icelandic take on this was ... (I am aware of the fact that Icelandic culture has changed quite a bit since I moved). Actually, my culture also tells me that there is no such thing as staying abstinent. In my culture, the real shit is called becoming sober. In Denmark you can totally fry your brain with pot at 40 and it is widely socially acceptable. In Iceland it used to be unthinkable to be doing substances your host wasn't doing, but this you can do in Denmark. I sat at a New Years eve party, very pregnant, next to a guy older than me, who was oblivious to the fact that a woman in my state should probably not inhale. (In Iceland, a pregnant woman partying with active substance abusers would definetly not count as kosher behaviour). This was not my first nor my last indirect pot smoking during my pregnancy since I still enjoyed a full life like a normal person, going to concerts and partying. Okay, I'm not exactly talking classical music here, but hell, I don't remember those kinds of clouds of smoke when I partied in Iceland. And I didn't travel with the lighter crowd. (Don't comment on the indirect pot smoking while pregnant ... I was big but quite mobile ... and of course I didn't inhale ...) Anywho. AB's connection to this guy, when I met AB, was mainly going to the guy's house to play computer games until dawn. You know, doing guy stuff. And probably to do some non-inhaling indirect smoking and feel all nostalgic before going out to participate in the real world again. So the old friend invited AB over tonight. I reminded AB that his friend was welcome to come to our house if they wanted to hang out more often. My secret mission being that they could babysit while I go out. I don't think this will happen though. You see, my own experience tells me it is harder to stay abstinent at other peoples houses... Labels: I didn't inhale posted by Skotta | 10:31 PM |Today has been one of those weird days. ![]() A normal day would have maybe one weird occurance. Today had like a weirdness to it from the get go. I woke up way too early and had to start the day by doing laundry. Minilla also stunk up the whole second floor so that was job number two, getting him clean (or helping the AB man getting him clean) and airing out the place. Stinky baby. Got a lift to work, which should have gotten me there early, but instead got me First thing I do is take the roaring phone, before I even get my coat off, to answer a guy shouting at me because he coudn't find an Icelandic real estate agent after trying to Google it for hours. I turned very educational and told him that in Iceland we spoke in Icelandic and since he spoke Danish he didn't really stand a chance unless he asked an Icelander for help. I told him sometimes I helped in such cases if asked politely. He became very humble indeed. My next caller was about 80 yrs old. He was either senile or drunk or both. He told me his life story and that he was the richest man in the world. He had recently turned communist and was living at the best suite at the Radison SAS hotel. He had a flight home friday, but would I please help him home today. I didn't but I did help the 16 yr old who ran away from home a week ago, got on a train to Germany, and somehow ended in Denmark without a penny. I made sure he was on a flight back to his mothers house this evening. Told him that when he'd turn 18 he was free to come back and live on the streets. More weirdness happened as the whole world was in a weird state, it seemed. Or maybe it is just my way of looking at it. ![]() Home this evening has been normal. Apart from Minilla's ever increasing vocabulary which leaves me in spasms of laughter. The Danish language is one of the ugliest in the world. Icelandic is one of the most beautiful ones. Many of the words are alike, almost the same, with slightly different pronounciation. Minilla is trying to get the two to synchronize in his little brain and it is so much work for him. You can almost see his brain working. He comes to the most adorable solutions to his language problems, like calling all insects "a hen", and calling chickens "little men". ![]() More brilliant cartoons on sticky notes at Savage Chickens Dot Com. I am downloading Open Office so I can cut and paste ice cream recipies from the internet. I don't have a certain code one needs to have to activate Microsoft Office so Open Office will do me fine. For some weird reason this computer is slower on the net than the one we have in the basement. I don't get it, it is the same goddamned internet connection, although I am on the wireless. My computer has a Welcome Center. It freaks me out. Makes me feel like the computer is a hospital or some weird kind of recreational facilities. Welcome to our nudist camp, undress in our Welcome Center. I am feeling really good. I am a good mother (translates, have not screamed at my child today - making it all jumpy and neurotic). I kick arse at work (translates, I got a big responsibility job to do today that I rolled up in a jiffy). You want to know my terrible secret? I sleep well. Why is this terrible? My man is in Manila so this counts as an indicator that a vacation from his snoring is doing me the world of good. I am getting deep sleep and wake up rested. I hate to say this but I am loving my sleep. My maybe-future-mother-in-law suggested that I moved out of the bedroom. Bless her heart. Labels: Thoughts while downloading posted by Skotta | 10:07 PM |Sunday, February 17, 2008 AB is in Manila making no less than three music videos for a Danish Hip Hop artist. The guy has such foul language that AB was at first hesitant to work for him but after being informed that the man had been sober for a year, AB decided he'd go through with it. So AB is in the Philippines, living in an apartment with some very young enthousiastic people and focusing on tight asses shaking. It's a dirty job but as you all know, somebody got to do it. Me and Minilla have been having a swell old time trying not to get on each others nerves. He doesn't really find the mother so much fun to play with after 3 days. He has been sick and I took two days off work while he had fever. Yesterday he was fine so we went and visited AB's aunt who was babysitting a Minillas cousin, two months younger. Now my boy is no weenie. He is big and strong. And the wobbly little cousing gave him a beating, first with a helicopter and then with a spade. After the second round, after a thorough scolding, the cousing came up to Minillas side wanting to apologize. My little one had enough and threw his arm out to the side, whacking the cousin in the face. The cousin ran behind his grandma and hung on to her pants. It was so hilarious and we had such a hard time with it, because we both felt it kind of was okay to hit back ... Not really my thing, to reward violence with violence but the kid had it coming. So what do you do in a situation like this? Do you scold your kid? It is only a matter of time before my boy discoveres his strength. He has already come walking through the living room once holding a brick he found outside. He also played with a 2 kg bag of potatoes (4.4 Lbs) lifting it up onto a big box and dragging it around the room. I will use this oppertunity to remind you guys that his b-day is April 17th so he is not two yrs yet. I haven't heard of any physical conflicts at the nannies (yes, plural) and now wonder if it is because he has already set the others straight by now. ![]() He is also showing great interest in a book on yoga where they show pictures of a guy exercising. He imitates the guy stretching and loves it. I think I've got an athlete on my hands. Labels: On tight asses and a strong baby posted by Skotta | 1:21 PM | |
