Tuesday, February 26, 2008 Today has been one of those weird days. ![]() A normal day would have maybe one weird occurance. Today had like a weirdness to it from the get go. I woke up way too early and had to start the day by doing laundry. Minilla also stunk up the whole second floor so that was job number two, getting him clean (or helping the AB man getting him clean) and airing out the place. Stinky baby. Got a lift to work, which should have gotten me there early, but instead got me First thing I do is take the roaring phone, before I even get my coat off, to answer a guy shouting at me because he coudn't find an Icelandic real estate agent after trying to Google it for hours. I turned very educational and told him that in Iceland we spoke in Icelandic and since he spoke Danish he didn't really stand a chance unless he asked an Icelander for help. I told him sometimes I helped in such cases if asked politely. He became very humble indeed. My next caller was about 80 yrs old. He was either senile or drunk or both. He told me his life story and that he was the richest man in the world. He had recently turned communist and was living at the best suite at the Radison SAS hotel. He had a flight home friday, but would I please help him home today. I didn't but I did help the 16 yr old who ran away from home a week ago, got on a train to Germany, and somehow ended in Denmark without a penny. I made sure he was on a flight back to his mothers house this evening. Told him that when he'd turn 18 he was free to come back and live on the streets. More weirdness happened as the whole world was in a weird state, it seemed. Or maybe it is just my way of looking at it. ![]() Home this evening has been normal. Apart from Minilla's ever increasing vocabulary which leaves me in spasms of laughter. The Danish language is one of the ugliest in the world. Icelandic is one of the most beautiful ones. Many of the words are alike, almost the same, with slightly different pronounciation. Minilla is trying to get the two to synchronize in his little brain and it is so much work for him. You can almost see his brain working. He comes to the most adorable solutions to his language problems, like calling all insects "a hen", and calling chickens "little men". ![]() More brilliant cartoons on sticky notes at Savage Chickens Dot Com.
