Tuesday, September 30, 2003 No time to blog, too busy being happy! Am having great, crisp days, with all colors vivid, all sounds bright, all smells amazing. Yes, the lady is on a glide..... loving it, loving it! Having more fun at work than ever. Love my job more than ever, in spite of the pay check.... hehehe. And life is just so sweet and chill. I resisted biking home tonight because I didn't want to miss out on the evening. (Oh, well, had already biked for two hours today.. and it was only a 45 minute walk). Bought a chinese pear at an all night Turkish grocerer. Have never eaten anything so fresh and juicy before. Life is bliss. posted by Skotta | 12:32 AM | Sunday, September 28, 2003 Theme of the week: Wonderwomen
Oh, yes, I have had an interesting experience. Biking home on this wonderful eve, I got slapped on the bottom. Not kidding. A cyclist cycled by and slapped my ass! This being a brittle eve and me wearing very tight jeans, this slap on the bottom hurt like hell. Naturally, I screamed out loud and spit out my vivid vocabulary of swear words. The cyclist looked back to check where I was. This was an evil little bastard, one of those guys who think that they can get away with shit by pulling a surprise. In the past, this has worked. It has left me feeling really pissed off, abused and carrying a lot of smart things I could have said, while imagining me giving the guy a slap in the face. I actually wonder why I don't slap guys more often. I can think of a few in the past year who deserved a good beeting. Well, this time I didn't really give it a thought. I just sped up. I biked faster until I reached the poor sod and gave him a pat on the shoulder. I told him that if he was pulling a stunt like that he shouldn't be the wimp to flee from the crime scene. Then I added that he'd never become a real man. And then I biked on. One for me, zero for male chauvinist pig who goes to bed with a severed manhood. posted by Skotta | 1:51 AM | Saturday, September 27, 2003
A very cool girlfriend of mine, whom I much admire, helped me out today. She is She-Ra. This was not a big problem, one of those little things that can happen in life but I can freak over. And I freaked. It helped me tremendously that she was calm and down to earth about it. It helped me knowing that she was able to be that way because she herself freaked when encoutering the problem for the first time. It helped me even more when speaking to my mother, I had to deal with her old world wisdom regarding the problem. Old world wisdom sometimes requires drastic solutions to problems, solutions that are not applicable in reality. Eventually, I took time to notice that life is so sweet when you put things into perspective, and notice that you actually are having a day where you can freak over a little problem instead of a big one. Or even a life threatening one. Like a spot on the brain. Those who want to know more about Pollyanna (whom I occationally refer to as Polly-f******-ann), here is the book and some info on the author. posted by Skotta | 12:12 AM | Thursday, September 25, 2003 Who remembers He-Man and She-Ra? I loved She-Ra and still do. She has been on my mind for a while now and I am not sure why. I hope these images don't get snapped from my site. I hate it when that happens. I have an invisble tennant. She is never here, yet I can see her things. I think she dropped by twice this month. I am not complaining... not at all. When she appears she is commonly accompanied by her mother. They are ususally bringing food to the house or more furniture. The food slowly rottens in my fridge. Life is beautiful. posted by Skotta | 9:34 PM | Wednesday, September 24, 2003 Now playing: The Neptunes present... Clones Radiohead - Hail to the Thief Radiohead - The Bends Katrin Kompakt I have been mixing some old with some new. The Bends is one of the best CD's ever made and I seem to revisit it every once in a while. It gets me high. Katrin Kompakt is a CD made for me by one of my best friends who is a genious. He has mixed me CD's and tapes and they always kick ass. This one has some gold nuggets like: Not an Addict -K's Choice Heaven - Talking Heads Yhdes Iltaan - Avain The Anthem - Funkdoobiest Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots - Flaming Lips Can't Walk Away - Herbert G Rock me Amadeus - Falco Poison - Alice Cooper Nothing but a G Thang - Dr. Dre Metal - Nine Inch Nails Sumarid er timinn - GCD I am ashamed to say that I have not earned this honor of being showered with such treats as these CD's. I love them and they keep me smiling. There is just something so right about Hip Hop in Finnish. Neptunes I think I already covered on this site. Go buy the CD. Better yet, go buy N.E.R.D. After trashing Beyonce's CD on this site (only to later get semi-addicted to it) I have decided to keep my CD reviews very short and positive. Hail to the Thief is a really, really good CD. Happy that my need for pop is reduced. Radiohead becomes a breath of fresh air. Now for some news. First it was New York, then London, and now Copenhagen has had its power shortage. We were out of electricity for most of the day due to a failure in a nuclear power plant in Sweeden. I had no idea that we were getting our power from them as Denmark takes pride in their windmills. They have ads all over town these days where a straw of wheat is called a power plant and that they are giving us all positive energy. The failure in the Sweedish power plant did that they had to share the electricity as there wasn't enough of it. I guess they didn't prioritize Copenhagen. Loss of electricity didn't affect me much at work today and my part of town had gotten electricity when I came home. I admit, it was not the best day to leave the bike at home. The bus traffic was very slow as no trains were going. For those of you who haven't checked it out yet, here is an interesting article written about power failure. My autistic one was really excited about it, she walked through all the rooms at work, playing with the light swithces and pointing out that there was no light. ps. my genious friend just tagged me and told me that he is reviewing movies again. I found this web-page for you babe, their logic is not quite logical but this is worth the time surfing. (insert evil laugh here) Plus a quiz for you. posted by Skotta | 12:22 AM | Saturday, September 20, 2003 I was supposed to be working here today. Instead, we have had a kind of a girlie day, with some work done but not much. This is what we discovered: These two really cool web sites for those friends of mine who are into shoes (fetish, drag or just plain Imelda Marcos type of a thang) and beautiful designer clothing. Expensive but really cool looking sites. For the intro and the little shoe that travels with your mouse, check this cool Diavolina site. Then for the sinful: Yoox Just play and ignore the prices. Yoox is not to be described. Then there is the ultimate lingerie website, Bare Necessities. Well, girls and boys, I hope you get something out of this. I know my sistas will love it. posted by Skotta | 12:05 PM | Tuesday, September 16, 2003 They just arrested someone in connection with the Anna Lindh case.
For those who don't know what I am talking about, Anna Lindh was Sweden's foreign minister. She got brutally stabbed in a mall last week. The Swedes are famous for not being able to catch those who kill their most loved ministers. Killer of prime minister Olaf Palme was never caught. They are being careful this time, just saying that they have issued an arrest, not saying that they caught the killer. Most believe that the killer has left the country, although the press is saying that the guy they have now arrested is connected to some neo-natzi movement. One thing is clear, he knew who he was after, so no insanity plea there. Other news from Scandinavia... Here in Denmark they just discovered some free software that you can download from the internet... hehe. It enables you to make international phone calls wia the internet without paying anything for it (other than what you are already paying for the internet). Download this here and get P2P explained. At the moment, you get the best quality sound (and time) if you have broad band and you can only call those who have the program. Brought to you by the same people who created KaZaA. Thank them. The phone is the only really expensive thing in Denmark, apart from the TV (you pay a fortune for two static channels). If this goes on, I might be calling Berlin, Indiana, and New York more often. I am still waiting to get my internet connection updated. We are buying a server for the building (with blue tooth). No more telephone lines all over my living room. Other news. Smoking is so not prohobited in Denmark. They smoke everywhere. Staff smokes in kindergartens, teachers smoke at schools. Not uncommon for someone my age to have lost one or both parents to cancer... Now they started putting stickers on the cigarette packs that have warning messages. The Danes want to take it further and put pictures of dying people on the packs. I guess that's when I'll stop smoking. The best part is though, that while doing this, they are making cigarettes cheaper. Pack is going down from 33,50 dkr (which is kind of cheap already) to 29 dkr. Smoking is still allowed everywhere. Lovely. All my best to my friends in Hamburg who just had their third baby. Thanks for the photos, what a beauty! Last but not least. Tonight a very special friend of mine is going through a ceremony that means a lot to her. My thoughts are with you and the butterflies in your stomach. posted by Skotta | 7:27 PM | Monday, September 15, 2003 I just realized that on the 14th I had lived here for two years! That is a record for me. I have not made two years in the same country since I left my country of origin quite a few years ago. It's kind of a nice feeling, it is kind of a grown up thing to be so "settled". I can't say I have grown up much though. My life seems to be one teenage uproar after another. And I love it that way. I'm regressing, if anything. At least my spelling is worse. But hell, I speak 4 languages, three of them on a daily basis. I can't spell them all perfectly, so sue me. At least I have the same sense of humor.
Aaahhh, nothing like stolen artwork. I am still back in the dark ages when it comes to scanning my own artwork in so I steel from those who imitate my style. This is one of the best ones of Natalie Dee's:
Hamsterboner I got a really interesting question about Indian Summer the other day. The answer to it is here, thanks to my big bro and uncle Google. I don't feel like anything happened today, life kind of doesn't register quite the same way after only 5 hours of sleep. I faintly recall having a talk with my obese/brain tumor girl today about not taking two cookies. Okay, have now chatted with my bro in San Fran for an hour. He just celebrated 20 years in California. He had a party and invited 50 people. Everyone was there, even the guy who picked them up at the airport 20 years ago. Cake said "20 years of foreign invention". Tequila and Brennivin in the garage. The cops came. I think I took a taxi from the airport. posted by Skotta | 10:47 PM | Can't sleep. Thinking about sausages. Not kidding. You see, I got these Icelandic sausages from my mum, my dad brought them when he visited. Like a true purebreed abroad I invited all my other purebreed friends to eat sausages with me. The sausages are called Bjugu. We loved it. We made the traditional white sauce and mashed potatos. This was a pale meal indeed, apart from the sausages. Now imagine a lot of blond women sitting together at this big table eating these huge Bjugu with all this white sauce. The whole feast of Bjugu made me remember a friend in NY. He once visited Iceland and got a colorful intro into our culture. He probably never got so far as to taste Bjugu. He, on the other hand, took me to the most amazing Sushi place I have ever been to. Sublime. posted by Skotta | 1:49 AM | Sunday, September 14, 2003 Now at a friends house. I just tought her daughter how to paste pics on her web-page. First choice:
Orlando Bloom The phenomena is calles "Orlando Blooming". Moan over the photos and then you "...just can't believe he's going out with this girl... okay, I can't deal with this, don't show me more photos". And he's a f***ing Brit! Bloomilishious. posted by Skotta | 12:56 PM | Saturday, September 13, 2003 Okay, it's allmost 5 am. I just came home. I am still a bit high from the night out. I am also very fresh after biking home in the beautiful Danish night. And the best part is..... I do not have the headache I usually have indulging in partying like this. Is this for real? I love my life. posted by Skotta | 4:44 AM | Friday, September 12, 2003 I am just home for a shower. I need to wash the smell of horses off me. Yes, indeed, I went horseback riding today. I loved it. I am so lucky. We take the kids horseback riding once a week. The best part about it is that I get to ride too. The other best part about it (yes, in my world there is no second best, just best, and best, and other best) is that I am riding Icelandic horses. It is kind of like meeting a mountain from home and looking deep into its eyes. I can allmost hear nature, Icelandic nature. It has a sound like no other, smell like no other, wiew like no other, air like no other, water so fresh... so fresh. I feel totally connected to the horses and I ride like I never did anything but. Funny enough, before this I had only sat on a horse once. If this wasn't such an expensive hobby I would start horseback riding. I just had to tell you that. The Neptunes are blasting, getting me ready for Friday night out. Is there anything cooler than music that gets you shaking your ass? I now declare Pharrell Williams sexiest man in the univers. I doubt God created anything as beautiful as this young man. And also, don't you just hate it when you take a shower and forget the towel? I just dripped all over my apartment. posted by Skotta | 6:53 PM | Thursday, September 11, 2003 I can't really say good night without remembering that today is September 11th. posted by Skotta | 11:51 PM | Home at last... Long day at work, 13 hours! Kinda. News of the spazzies: My violent one came crying off the bus today. Managed to explain through the sobs and the snot that he hated his parents and wanted them to get a divorce. His dad is unemployed so his mum doesn't want to give the kid any money for pets or chips. My violent one was angry because he so badly wants to buy chips and scorpions... I told him I totally understood that he was angry, it sucks not to have money to buy scorpions. I explained that when sombody is unemployed the money has to be used to buy food and toiletpaper so ones kids didn't have to walk around with shit up their butt crack. He thought it was funny though and stopped crying after I blew his nose. He usually calls me a fucking asshole homo prick. I tell him I don't understand because I don't know all these strange Danish words. We had a football tournament this week. My Downs syndrom chick was on the cheer leading team. She was awesome and she kicked ass. Smiled for hours and sang that the boys were hot. The there were only "normal" kids on our team as my group of kids can't play by rules and every so often miss the ball. There was juice and cake for the players. Unfortunately, the juice and cake were brought out in the middle of the game so most of the team ran off the field to get cake. The other team won 5-1. Their cheerleaders and our cheerleaders allmost insulted each other so that I barely managed to stop a fist fight between them. My girl stood obliviously happy and cheered on that the boys were hot. Love my job. posted by Skotta | 11:44 PM | Sunday, September 07, 2003 When helping a friend out with her web page, I re-visited Peter Pan's web page once again. Peter Pan has added to his page and it is looking good. I especially love his ISO Tinkerbell page, and his Friends Page. Loads of fun links in there, like Skipper, a woman on a mission. Her boyfriend is Bubbleman. Peter Pan dedicated a page to Skipper. Make your own judgements. Are these people insane or just happy and courageous? I, for one, have friends who worship their inner child... before and after pouring a lot of booze down it's throat. I just discovered something just now. If I search for Skottustelpa on Google I get this page and my old page. This is kind of not cool as my blogs are privat (meaning that one can choose to have once blog a privat or a public blog). Last time I checked (made a search for Skottustelpa on Google) there were no results. Now I have my name coming up everywhere. Same with Frussa. That was actually quite funny as so many people seem to have the name Frussa. It means something in Icelandic that I can't translate. One more thing. Got this interesting fact from a homepage written by an Icelandic student in Amsterdam. The Dutch have now started selling TCH (cannabis) as a prescription drug. This means that HIV patients and people with MS can now go to their doctor and get a prescription and buy their pot from the pharmacist. Not a bad idea but kind of a paradox in the Neatherlands where pot is sold in coffee shops on every street corner. To make things even more paradoxical, the pot from your local coffee shop goes for about 6-8 Euros a gram whereas the gram costs around 44-55 Euros from the pharmacist. So why get a prescription for pot you can buy 7-10 times cheaper, legally on the next corner? Besides, the Dutch goverment has been encouraging people to grow their own stash, as the French got so pissed off by the traffic coming throug there from Marocco. Last time I heard they allowed three plants per household, two female plants and one male. Didn't know plants came in seperate sexes, did you? posted by Skotta | 10:08 PM | Friday, September 05, 2003 I am really tired so this will be short. I had a really great day in Tivoli with the kids. Everyone was chill and happy. Nothing to do but stand in lines for ages, eat ice cream and popcorn. The kids were so happy that there were no big conflicts. In fact, I had the brain tumor kid who loves to binge, and she spent most of the time eating and then having a tummy ache. Tummy ache resulted in barely making it to the bathroom and spending a long time in there. So, a chill day. My dad is in town. He brought me stuff from my mom. Loads of Bjugu (Icelandic sausage) and Sirius Sukkuladi, some flatkokur and Thristur. And the best: Royal Sukkuladibudingur! Love my mum big time. posted by Skotta | 12:50 AM | Wednesday, September 03, 2003 I know you are all dying to know if I passed my Bay Watch test.
I so did. I kicked ass. And although we did not get to run on a beach with the red thingie, we did do all kinds of cool life saving stuff. I can't wait for one of my kids to drown so I practise all the things I learned today! It turned out that most of the first aid things I covered in my last first aid class are now outdated. They don't do mouth to mouth anymore. The Bay Watch instructor told me that they have not been doing that for 25 years in Denmark. That made me feel really old, until I discovered that I learned first aid in Iceland. They do mouth to nose. A tricky thing to do when you originally learned mouth to mouth, like I have, and keep pinching the nose you are supposed to be breathing into. I got to do tricks with the life saver ring.
I got to dive after a doll. I got to save a person who was fighting me in the water. Some of the guys found it really cool to have scratch marks after the girls who put up a good fight in the water. Yeah, and one of the cool things about today was seeing all these sexy guys strutting around in their swim trunks.
I could have landed one of those. He kept trying to get my attention, but was I giving any? Only after I saw him half naked at the pool. Ain't life sweet.
I might be able to save lives but I am killing my orchid. Those who are intending to try the 28 Days trick, don't buy an orchid. They are so hard to keep alive for a year. Buy a cactus. Probably the reason I am here writing this in stead of being on a hot date. It is handicap-day in Tivoli tomorrow. That means that I have a stressful day ahead of me with my Fetal Alcohol Syndrom child, my Downs Syndrom child, my Autistic child, my eating compulsively/brain tumor child, and my undiagnosed agressive maniac teenager. They will bee sensory overloaded and in an insulin shock. It will be colorful. posted by Skotta | 7:16 PM | |
