Your girl is good. Her man is better.

I packed for the both of us last minute. AB had to be at the physiotherapist at 8 am, then at a business meeting. We had to be at the airport at 10:20 am, latest, as we were boarding a transatlantic flight. Our plane was to leave at 12:20.

I call the embassy at 9 am. No sign of my passport.
The ever so nice lady at the embassy told me that the mail usually came around 10, sometimes a little bit earlier, sometimes a little bit later. I was welcome to come and take my chances with the mailman, but she could not guarantee that the passport would come with the mail.

I finish packing, AB shows up, and we drive to my work where I dropped off some papers. Then to the embassy.
10 o'clock, and no sign of the postman. We decide to give it a few minutes.
10:15 and there is no sign of the postman.
10:20 and there is no sign of the postman.
10:25 and Skottustelpa is crying.
10:30 and we drive to the airport without my new passport.

On the way to the airport my brilliant boyfriend and I discussed the matter. My idea was to take my chances with the ever-so-nice immigration officers (that threw me out of the US, remember, when I tried the Canada trick).
AB suggested that we would call the nice lady at the embassy again, and tell her to call us if the passport showed up.

As I am a famous Drama Queen, and he is the director of a company, his idea won.
She called us while we were checking in. The nice mailman had my passport. We called a taxi right away, and instructed that the passport should be driven to the airport.

We were a really happy couple when we gave the taxi driver a fat tip, when he came with my new passport.

The rest is history. Well, actually an adventure.

We are now in New York.
Yesterday we went to the Museum of Natural History.
This is my favorite museum. AB was not disappointed. This is one of the most wonderful museums in the world.
Today we ate a burger at Jackson Hole. That was the biggest burger I have seen.
Afterwards we walked back to the hotel, just dropping by Victoria's Secret. I now posess the sexiest underware in the world.
The only thing topping this is La Perla. (Sorry to be so rude, but there are always diamonds...)
I am in extazy over my underware. I have put it on and taken it off about 10 times now. I can't stop admireing myself in the mirror.

Oh, yeah, the mirror. The mirror is one of two huge mirrors in our beautiful hotel room. We love it here. The bed is amazing. Everything is brand new. We have slept a lot, and we have bathed a lot. We are on our second bottle of lavender bubble bath.

I love having a vacation.

AB is already talking about next visit to New York.
That's when we are going to take a helicopter sight seeing tour.
That won't happen this trip, AB said, because the girl got underware.

He also got something!
A "Jesus is my homeboy" t-shirt.

I have had a busy week.

Not normally busy. Strangely busy.
Strangely, as in not the usualy stuff happening, but fates strange manouvers interrupting my otherwise stable existance.

Like:
Making plans, that then fall through, but then are actual again last minute, when I have already made other plans.
Going to IKEA to buy something already decided on, coming home with half of a new kitchen, electric toothbrush and a dryer that matches the washing maschine.
The drivers damaging half of the shelfs we bought.
The driver then pulling a stunt called: "Your girlfriend dropped them, and that's why they're damaged".
Boyfriend threatening to do a Michael Moore on the drivers firm.
Drivers delivering the dryer showing up earlier than they agreed to (when nobody whs home).
Being saved big time by a friend who biked to my house and opened up for my new dryer.
No call from the embassy at all.
Not packed yet.

Have shiny teeth.

I will be in New York by tomorrow, even if I have to break into the country. Fabulously Amazing Boyfriend has booked a limo to come and pick us up at the airport.

Here's the story.
I spent an hour on a blog the other day, and blogger erased it.
I got so angry I haven't touched the computer since.

Okay, not quite, I have surfed.
And reading my favorites, I nicked a link from the Queen. Try it out, it made my day:
Build your own wrestler.

On a different note, I am going out of town this weekend. I am going to a birthday, and I bought the birthday girl a great present. We are staying for the whole weekend, in our own cottage that we are sharing with AB's aunt. She is one of the loveliest people I know, so I am already looking forward to having my cup of coffee with her in the mornings.

Other news are that I love having a car.
The fact that I have a car enabled me to go out this morning and drive to the central station. The goal was to sit in a box and come out with passport photos.
I have the most hilarious passport photos now, and a much clearer notion of how I look before 8 AM.

You see, what happened was that, this morning, when my AB woke me up at ungodly hours, I realized that my passport, although valid in Europe, is no longer valid in the US. I need the extra stuff in, the stripe that is to prevent me visiting NY if I am a terrorist. I am not getting into this again, you all know my opinion on the whole deal.

After a fit of panic, I managed to sleep 3 hours. How is that for serenety ... after surfing the internet to find out the opening hours of the Icelandic embassy.

Very nervously, I asked the guy at the front desk if they performed miracles. He told me, that if I paid extra, they did.
I will therefor get my new passport just in time for my flight on Friday.
Close call.

I can't wait!!!

Need to blog !!!

Anyone remember a film where they sung "Gotta dance!!! ?

Back on track again.
Not sick anymore. Nose dripping, not stuffed anymore.

I have no news, really.
My man did not get the Robert last night, but I looked fab, which is, as we all know, the most important thing.

Penicillin is making me super tired all the time, so I am beat after the days work. I was supposed to work until noon, but took extra hours ...
I am supposed to be cutting down, I know.
I am not the one to sit still, when I can move.

What can I tell you?
We now have a nice sports car, that is a dream to drive.
When we can get it out of our car port, there is.
I seem to have a way with the key-card.
I have now managed to ruin two magnetic strips.
And this is why I am blogging now, and not driving my sportscar around town.

I don't know what it is. It is either my phone, or the car key. Something in my pockets that the key-card can't be near.
We were terribly late to the awards last night due to the fact that we couldn't get our car out. And now I was going to get the car, with the new card, and law and behold! I can't get in.

And that is why I am blogging.
That, and because the alternative to blogging is to do the dishes and make dinner.

I am slowly reading through this blog in the book my brother made me.
To my horror, I found that my He-Man and She-Ra images had turned into a Nazi message. The images originally came from a web-site that seemed to be a Spanish TV station.

I apologize to anyone who has stumbled across this message on my page.

Ususally, if I have come to "borrow" images from another web-site, and it turns out to be strongly objected to by the web-master, they just nick them back. Sometimes they leave a message saying that I am not to pick from their pages. I usually correct these mistakes, and link to the pages instead, as I usually admire the stuff I report on.
I don't know if the Nazi message is supposed to be a prank. I can't describe how tasteless I found this.

Feeling a bit guilty now...

Went outside, and my nose is blocked again.
AB is pissed at me.

One year and one day ago, AB invited me out on our first date.

Last night, when this dawned upon us, we decided to go out and have a burger at 80's style Chili's. We had a very comic experience parking the car, with him on the side walk instructing me on how to reverse into the parking spot, with me giggling like an idiot. Shaking his head over how hopeless he found me.
He also made a Freaudian slip, calling it a 10 year anniversary.
Afterwards we watched Hellboy. This was an ideal way to celebrate the year. Movie was great, Special Features section could have been more jucy.

A year.
It's hard to believe. Time sure flies when you're having fun.
This is what I was doing a year ago.

And now I have new things in my life.
Like very charming over-protectiveness.
"Aaaarrgghh, I am angry at you now!" he said, when I told him that I had not been super good at keeping warm today.

I have loads of things in my life now, that I am not allowed to do, or am supposed to do. I am, for example, not allowed to own a vintage car. This is too dangerous. I am also to keep warm at all times, and to take vitamins.
Pity I'm so bad at doing what I'm told.

He takes very good care of me in every way.
My mother is thrilled.
She has spent countless nights worrying about me, my health, and my existance in foreign countries. She feels I am safe now.

Me and AB agreed that it has been a good year, and that we are very fortunate people.
Then we made out.

I am having a great time being with my new title. Meet:

The Effective Housewife

There is nothing more to do around the house, that I can do without risking getting violently ill. One can not clean windows with a sinus infection.

So now I am copying all my new CD's into my computer, so I can listen to them with my great speakers. Or my boyfriends computer and his great speakers, but you know what I mean.

Before I get into the music and the movies, I want to introduce to you my latest thing. The Naesehorn. I now posess one of those, in blue, as shown on the picture. I'll try to get some info on this, but I am sure you get the idea although the page is in Danish. This was reccommended to me by an Ear-, Nose and Throat Specialist, and I am happy to report that I can breathe through both nostrils now.

Well, let's get on with the music.
But wait!
Is there any candy in the house?
No, only gum. Salty licorice Extra, my favorite.

Okay, ready now, here are the CD's I got for Christmas:

Jolin hennar Ommu - (Grandmas Christmas, Various Icelandic artists, 1969)
Scandinavian Songs - Guitar Islancio
Ave Maria - Diddu og Blasarasextett Mosfellsdals
Hvitir Mavar - Helena Eyjolfsdottir
Musick - Maus
Bassajol - Jakob Smari Magnusson (hear sample)
Upp og Nidur - Jolly og Kola
Salmar - Ellen Kristjansdottir
I takt vid timann - Studmenn (Soundtrack)
Lonely Mountain - Mugison
Mugimama is this monkey music - Mugison
Guerilla Disco - Qurarashi
Passing out - Gisli
Skyin eru hly - Silfurtonar
Shout - Tears for Fears

I don't think I forgot anything.

If anything, this blog is a log of my sick days ...

Yip, once again, I am sick at home. Darn.
I am going to start taking vitamins.

Expect a lot of blogging over the next 3 days.

I will do my best not to write about more snot (although it is tempting to give a vivid description of what came out of my nose this morning), and maybe pay more attention to current events.

I have not written about the earthquake in Asia. And I have not written about Brad Pitt's and Jennifer Aniston's divorce. To name a couple of current events.

I have not written about the earthquake because it kind of hit close to home.
A good friend of my Amazing Boyfriend was in Tailand on vacation with his wife and son. Father and son came home, his wife is missing. The last thing he heard of her was when she shouted out for him to go and get their son at the pool. He went, without his glasses, and found his son. The water carried them up into a tree. The boy lost conciousness, and stopped breathing, up in the tree, and his father got him back by performing first aid. He did not know what hit them, he could not see a thing, just heard the noise.
They are both back in Denmark now, the son is with his grandparents, the father in the hospital. He has deep wounds on his feet and legs from walking long distances over shattered glass, looking for his wife.

I have never met him, I met her once briefly on the street. They live here in the neighbourhood. I think about them a lot. I think about him, lying in the hospital, in isolation. His thoughts must be unberable. It's not that long since they got married. The boy is five.

Well, well.
Got all heavy there.
It's heavy stuff.

So there is poor Jenifer, getting a divorce from Brad, and him flirting with Angelina Jolie over the phone.

It's not a fair world.

I am okay, thanks to the American medicin cabinet.

I have a good friend who has also lived in the US. Those who have lived in the US know the magic of the American medicin cabinet. There is loads of stuff you can get in the US, that Europe does not have, like some basic meds.

So, on Saturday, after the night of the vomit, my head was blowing up. The pain was unbelivable and the pressure from the mucus triggered yet another migraine. I did all I could, but ended up calling my friend, my life saver, and cried on the phone.

She came in a hurry, and gave me a pill from her American medicin cabinet. She had a pill designed to relieve mucus pressure. Finally, my pain reduced, and I got some sleep.

Little over 24 hours later, and some more American pills, I am fine. Not well, but fine.
Fucked up, insecure, naurotic, and emotional.
With one nostril blocked, but gratefully breating with the rest of my face. Devistated that I have to call in sick tomorrow, because on Friday I told them that my doctor told me I could work Monday. I am probably not going to be getting well soon.

One of the things that happen to me when I am sick, is that I become very little.
I keep apologizing to my boyfriend for allmost everything I do.
Like a little puppy.

Okay, let me tell you why I keep blogging about all the snot.
I know of at least two people who read me who are clogged as this is written. Nursing a cold. I think of you my dearests, and I feel for you. We have it really, really bad, and we are horribly, horribly sick, and the rest of the world should be nice to us.

My bad news of the day were that apparently, the penicillin only kills the bacteria, the mucus takes much longer to clear out. My good news of the day were that the pharmacy has a thingimebop that one fills with boiled water and salt and uses for rinsing out the sinuses. I am getting myself that tomorrow.

The Porche version.

Again awake at 5 am.

I managed to sleep some. The only thing worse than a sick person in a bed, are two sick people in a bed.
Sick as in physically sick, not as in sick in the head. We toss and we turn and we fight over the space and the duvet.

I am sick in the head though.
I have now taken some of the penicillin pills. Then I have experimented with some pain killers.

Let me explain.
My body is free of all extra stuff, except coffee and the occational migraine pill. Those are few and relatively far between now.
I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs, I don't take medicine with a red triangle, no hormonal birth control. This just happened to me, my body refuses this stuff, and goes bananas if I violate these "stupid" rules it has made.

For the past three weeks, I have taken a few DayQuil to get through the day at work. Tonight, I was in such pain that I took a Panodil (the equivalent to the mildest Tylenol or Advil). I never, ever take them.

The Panodil is an innocent headache pill that works for most people. You give it to babies to reduce fever. I decided to take it because it does not induce bleeding, and my nose is kind of delicate at the moment. Tonight it worked for me. Some of the pressure from all the mucus in my head seemed to go away. The pain of the pressure, there is, not the mucus.

Then I woke up in pain around 4:50. My ever-so-soft pillow was hurting my head. Rememberring my sweet meeting with the Panodil tablet earlier, I decided to take one again.

Now, here comes the catch. Panodil is used for a regular headache. I never, ever get a regular headache. I get migraines.
Migraine is a reverse headache. You handle it quite the opposite way. Sometimes, my migraine symptoms can be held down with an expresso. Now, try to take an expresso for a normal headache and see what happens.

And tonight, the innocent little Panodil I took, became the onset of a migraine attack. Which is why I never, ever take them!!!!

Great. Now I had my head stuffed with mucus, loads of penicillin poison in my body, a headache pill in my body, and a blasting migraine.

For a migraine, there is only one thing to do. Take a pill.
And so I did.
And started throwing up.
Vomit.
Vomit.

I hate pills, and I hate being sick. I want it to go away, now.

On the bright side, once I came online, I met my brother. He couldn't sleep either because of a bad cold. We chatted between my runs to the bathroom. He held my spirits up. We agreed though that we are really, really, sick and staged the World Championships of Self-Pity. He said he had it much worse than me, but I think I won, when I threw up.

One thing we agreed upon: We are in quite good shape, considering how sick one is when one has kidney stones. Now that hurts! He knows, he has tried it.

I am feeling better now, and am seriously considering the ice cream in the freezer.

Love the fact that I have siblings, and that MSN enables me to meet them online. Being the youngest of 7, the chances of meeting someone online are great. I have 22 members in the "Family" colum.

I still feel shitty. My stomach is empty and I can't sleep when I am hungry. Am still a bit nauseous. Hmmm. Should I check out the ice cream?

The other option, of course, is waking up my Amazing Boyfriend, who would then feel sorry for me and be really sweet. That always helps.
Neh, he needs his sleep.

And now I am too tired to go for the ice cream.
Perfect. I am going back to bed now.
There is no better cure for amnesia, than blogging.

I have a sinus infection.

I called the doctor's this morning because my face hurts and it feels like I have water in my ear. My teeth also hurt, and my nose bleeds when I blow it. I am constantly blocked and my snot has now been all possible snot colors, from clear, to bright green, to yellow, to yellowish brown, to red and bloody.

I now have penicillin, and am to take that for the next 14 days.
I can go to work on monday.
In case you were interested.

Sorry to keep you waiting folks, but here it is:

Happy New Yr everyone!

As I am now awake at 4:15 am, I suddenly have the time to blog.
Can't sleep because my face hurts.
"Why does her face hurt?" you might ask, from the warmth of your concerned hearts.
"Why, from blowing her nose for 3 weeks, of course!"

I am sick now. I finally had to bow to the fact that once again, in a new instituion filled with kids, my immune system needs to get used to all the new viruses and bacteria running around. I am loosing a 3 week fight, going on 4th week. I put up a good fight, but when blowing my nose today at work, it started bleeding from both nostrils.
I think my body is telling me I need a brake.

Will I ever learn?
I have once ended up hospitalized from working ill!

I just managed a staff meeting tonight, where 30 people looked at me like I was an idiot sitting there. This is usually the give away, when I can see on other peoples faces that they think I am insane.
Like when I showed up to work after a disasterus dentist appointment, seeing double and looking like the Elephant Man, because I had to supervise a collegue and had to take the kids swimming. Sat through the supervision session, with the poor guy feeling really weird, while I held an icepack on my face and talked blurry. Wondered outloud if I could dive after a drowning kid, seeing double. Realized after the look on my boss' face that I was ridiculous.

Oh,well.
I am drinking tea.
It's helping, along with the DayQuil and the Opals.

"Why the Opal?" you might ask, from the warmth of your concerned hearts (as the DayQuil explains itself).
Well, because I just came from Iceland, and it is Icelandic candy, which is about the only thing eatable in the house.
We have not prioratized shopping. We have prioratized eating Indian food and driving in our NEW SPORTS CAR!!!!

THE CAR has arrived.
It is, like everything else in my life, amazingly fun and beautiful.

Let me tell you now, how spoiled this little girl is:

A while back, my Amazing Boyfriend asked me, whether I preferred an automatic or a stick. This was during the time he was picking out the color, the lights, the interior, the everything, and I was frequently asked opinion on all car matters.
I recall answering that I an automatic was more comfortable in the city, but a stick was a lot more fun to drive otherwise.

Proudly, when the car came, he told my that he had a surprise for me. The car has both! I can drive like a madwoman on the highway, with my Porche designed stick/automatic gear box, drive a stick and suddenly decide to drive an automatic car and do just that.

I didn't know that this existed. I have my own set of keys to this car. It is a car with a lot of buttons. My favorite one is the one that puts the roof down.

Another luxury, which kind of makes the whole thing possible:
Private parking in a basement, two minutes from the house.
The only drag about having a car in Copenhagen, apart from the fact that the insurance is ridiculous, is looking for parking. On a good night, one can easily spend 45 minutes looking for a parking space, and then finding one far, far away from one's habitat. Maybe even a parking space where one has to wake up before 7 am to move the car.

So. Happy with the new convertible, stick/automatic, sports car.

And to make this a really looooong blog:

New York is coming soon. Only 3 weeks away.
I had a long chat with my girl and her baby boy, on the phone last night. He sounds beautiful. I can't wait, I can't wait!!!!
