Thursday, September 27, 2007 Speaking of which, the Spandex Bandit is back. Labels: The people I love posted by Skotta | 10:44 PM |The people in my circle of friends and my family just inspires me to reach greatness. They inspire me with their talents, their hard work, and by being decent human beings who make courageous decisions in work and play on a daily basis. Here is one of them. Enjoy DJ Platurn opening for De La Soul: Mindblowing. Pure artistry. Labels: The people I love posted by Skotta | 10:08 PM |It's past my bedtime. I can't help it, I just had to Simpsonize myself. I turnes out I don't have a decent picture of myself. Probably because most of the time I'm the one behind the camera. No, it's because on all the photos taken of me over the past couple of years I either have a baby or a boyfriend attached. I managed to find one though and have now spent way too much time on the internet. Good night. Labels: Good night and God bless posted by Skotta | 12:04 AM |Wednesday, September 26, 2007 I was about to write to the Queen, with the goal of bathing her in my adoration. She will publish her writings one day and get rich. Go read her blog. I decided against writing her becaues I know she'd just as well have a blog. So, I'm blogging. I will share with you my latest escapades. Today's include a job interwiew at the embassy. I am still unemployed. I am not out of the run though, I might still get a chance to work there. There is a slight issue of me being overqualified for the job and me thinking they are not up do date on the going rate ... So, as my homegirl orders, my meditation tonight includes high heels and office outfits, this time with higher wages. And Marc Jacobs designing my warderobe. Did you realize he also happens to be one of the sexiest men alive? ![]() I will meditate on his his fall collection. He now has a label called Little Marc. I could just die. I love being a girl. I forgot I did when I became a mom, but honestly, what I love most, is being a girl. And my Marc Jacobs boots. Labels: Fashion is also fun posted by Skotta | 11:10 PM |Monday, September 24, 2007 By the screen, waiting for news of my dad. He was taken to the hospital last night. He is better now, in good hands, but it is always uncomfortable when someone you love is unwell. I want to go to Iceland now. Labels: Longing for my real home posted by Skotta | 1:02 PM |Thursday, September 20, 2007 What am I doing these days? I am owing a favorite person a long letter. I am writing job applications. I am being a single mother for a week. I am making "I-know-you-are-ripping-me-off-you-sly-fox" deals with the nice Mr. Floor Man who will be finishing my bedroom floor. I am being an awesom future daughter- and sister-in-law (if he ever proposes, and I'm sure as hell not pushing it). I am attending to friends, my sober life, my house, my garden, my boy, my bills. I am cooking up new dishes using all the apples from my apple tree. I am writing To Do lists. I am going to a job interwiew tomorrow morning. I am hoping for a phone call from another place that's hireing. I am listening to the dryer while I write this. I am going to bed now. ![]() Labels: News from the home front posted by Skotta | 8:47 PM |Monday, September 10, 2007 Hahahaha First you go: "Oh, no, another elf band. Would make a great parody." Then you go: "Icelandic women making music. Kinda cool." Watch it through (brace yourself with patience). It's actually lovely. Apart from the host. She looks like an old ho having a childrens birthday on drugs. For more stuff like this, check out Mum, Sigur Ros, and a lot of the stuff that comes from Kitchen Motors. Labels: Music posted by Skotta | 10:43 AM |This on the other hand is hilarious. Sorry, hanging out on YouTube while I wait for my new bed. Can't leave the house to buy ink for the printer, can't do more work on my job applications. Okay, this is what comes up if you search for Icelandic (islenskt) on YouTube. Wednesday, September 05, 2007 This is also in Icelandic but the English speakers might enjoy this too. It is an ad that has caused some debate in Iceland. The Bishop is kinda pissed off. It is an ad from a phone company. This is in Icelandic. It is from 1984. It's Paul Oscar. Lovely. I have now been activated. This means that I have now been unemployed for more than 3 months so they give me a push. The push being: Go take this course on how to apply for jobs. Show up for this or we'll take your money away. Next push being: Now we decide for you where you'll work and you show up for that job or you don't get any money. (I was going to post a picture of a homeless or poor woman here but the photos were to agonizing to be put in a funny context so I decided against it. Anyone ever believed that I'd develope a concience?) Coming out after an interwiew like this feels unbelievably liberating although the point of the whole thing is to help you along the way to a job. The system assumes that you want to be a law abiding citizen, that you are dying to get a job and pay your taxes. And I am. Kinda. I love paying taxes. I love what the taxes do for me. Just wished I didn't have to work to pay them. I'd much rather go pick apples from my apple tree. Or do some art. Or do some art with my apple tree. How does this connect? My homegirl came by today with her school assignment, which included me taking pictures of her climbing in my apple tree. We had so much fun that I wan't to go back to art school. Labels: Back to school? posted by Skotta | 1:15 PM |Monday, September 03, 2007 Oh, Come, All Ye Faithful Thank you for hanging in there. Skotta is back. After a long and blissful summer spent in three different countries, I am back home with what seems to be "ample" time on my hands. We were smart and invited guests over yesterday. Translates: We had to clean house. AB has had some things to celebrate and our guests brought food, so the visit itself was a treat, although the suffering Skotta houswife was a bit tired. Minilla is beautiful and happy. First day at the nannies after vacation today. He just jumped right in. So, ample time ... to apply for jobs. I have an interwiew tomorrow at the unemployment center, which means they would like to see my arse out working soon. Or at least take a course or something while I look for the perfect job. I am an honest person. I like not working and getting money anyway. I'd have to be nuts not to like that. But, they won't give me the money forever so the lovely "Housewife on Vacation" job has to wait until better times. ![]() It's been a privilege.
