Do you know the feeling, when you have said something and then it kind of jinxes you?
I just did that.

After writing that long blog, I managed to put my foot in my mouth, expressing my opinion.

My dear friend Virtuosa is coming to town tomorrow.
That's like Christmas for me.
I should be in bed.
I am picking her up, before going to work.
A little Saturday job I got myself into.

So why am I not in bed?
Because my man is not in bed. He seems to be the major bed-attraction these days. When he's not there, I just don't seem to see a point in going.
I wasn't like this. It is weird.
I used to love sleeping on my own.
And I do.
After he has gone to work the mornings he has to go in earlier than me.

He is on his way home from working late. I have a feeling we will eat ice cream.
That's the kind of people we are.
We eat ice cream at weird hours.
Man, I love being happy.

On a different note:
I just have to express my disappointment over the Icelandic Web-Awards. www.icomefromreykjavik.com came in 3rd.
The 1st place and 2nd totally suck, but the guy who came in 4th looks kinda funny.
I so totally don't agree with the results here. I don't agree that a page that is updated once a month wins, just because the man that makes it has loads of friends.
The one who came in second has nothing interesting to say!

There you have it.
Never said I wasn't opinionated.

Oh, and there was more:

In November I am going to a lot of parties and concerts.
I will see two Kashmir concerts, at least, if not three (Vega).
Now, I have said of this band, that they are one of those bands that are heavily "influenced" by other bands like Radiohead ...
Well, they are. Sorry.
I really, really find it lame. I can't help it.
I have always preferred the original rather than a copy.
This goes for just about everything in my life.

Those guys are sweethearts and I love them to pieces.
And I definetly admire doing something rather than doing nothing.

Kashmir is one of the better "copy bands" (they will kill me if they ever read this) so I am really, really looking forward to the concerts.
I am also really, really looking forward to getting free tickets and back stage passes for all my girlfriends.
Never keep a good thing to yourself, always share.

I have to say though, I look even more forward to the Concert DVD.
Now, there we are talking about originality and exceptional talent, and yes, no I am not biased.

Ask those who have been in my life, if I am not able to say it straight when things suck?
I am called upon frequently for my brutal opinon. More often because I am getting better at the art of saying what I mean without being mean.
I do think I have lost a couple of connections because of my "honesty". Sometimes I didn't mean to tell people they sucked. I just couldn't hide it well. I have no poker face.
That is probably why I have chosen not participate in bullshit. I am hopeless at lying, so I might as well be honest.

But back to the AB, as I said, I prefer the original than the copy. I could not find a more original or creative man around. The man is a genious and I have such respect for his work.
I rest my case.
And here he comes home. Better stop blogging.

A note to the Queen: Sweetie, I need your e-mail. It is time we update your page and get you some yummy stuff like links and comments. It would do you a lot of good getting some feedback to your exquisitly funny colums.

A note to the Hypnotoad: What the f** is happening with your page man? You get a girlfriend and stop blogging? If I'm right, she is blogging more than you are! Me not getting the issue here. Your faithful readers need to know how it goes with the job search.

Okay, I am kinda freaked out here ...

42 visits in about 48 hours. Mine are not counted.
Either some of you are extremely trigger happy (or obsessive compulsive in finer language), or I have more readers than I imagined.

Granted I have a big family.
Granted the FBI and the CIA are reading me after the Bush death threat (and here I type the words in again, Bush death threat, and am most definetly being read by them now).
Granted I have obsessive compulsiv friends.

42 visits in 48 hours is still freaking me out!!!

That is a visit almost every hour.
Nobody at work knows I blog. Obviously. How would I else have anything to blog about?
I don't blog about the extra special private stuff. I don't gossip violently about my friends and try to write only nice things about my family.
Granted, I do have an Amazing Boyfriend.
But what the hell are you loving so much that you bother paying my site a visit 42 times in 48 hours?

And although I have tried to write responsibly, especially after the Bush death threat (and the letter of apology to his family), it still freaks me out that I am being read by so many.
Exept I am writing this to a stalker.

So, my dear readers, now that I know that you are out there in great amounts, I promise I will deliver some seriously well considered material. There will be no more threats of death or violence.

I wish I could promise you ample amounts of wit, but lets leave it at that.

I will promise you news of AB and myself, not so serious trivia (apart from the exhausted outbursts of whatever is bugging me at work), and some of my wiews on culture and politics.

And after Agent Scully's comment: I promise you a lot of bad grammar and even worse spelling.

And now to the news:

I am assuming that my girl in NY has delivered her boy. I will write him a "Welcome to the World" letter, and resist the "Beware of Bush" slogan and the "Use Your Right to Vote" speach.
I can't wait to see him.

My AB bought a sports car over the internet yesterday.
Kinda.
He sent an e-mail to the car sales man to go through with the order, and paid the deposit via net-bank. He had talked to the car sales man a great deal, it just sounds cooler this way.
We will be driving to Paris as soon as he has his license.

What else?

Oh yeah, my former partner in crime, who crossed my boundaries so violently that I said no thanks to my dream job, is now home sick for the next two weeks. I actually don't expect to see him again. I already have a new job in sight. I might not even have to apply for it formally. That is totally the best, as job applications, and job interwiews give me the creaps. At least the Danish ones do. I didn't have this feeling when I got here.
I want to live in a world where one gets head hunted.
Sorry, where I get headhunted.

While I wrote this I got 2 visits.
I am proud of your enthousiasm.

Why women are so fantastic:

I am multi-tasking. I eat sushi and blog at the same time. Beat that one.

Soar all over

People like me, who do not enjoy any kind of exercise (not the beer drinking biceps one either, not the eyelid one either), put their bodies in a state of shock when moving house.

Especially when moving boxes from the 6th floor (which is called the 4th floor in Denmark) down. I am happy to say that I did not have to move up any fligths. I don't think I'd be walking today.

I am walking but I ain't doing it very gracefully. I had no idea I had so many muscles in my back. I moan every time I move.

I am happy.
I loved living here before, I am even more in love with the place now.

I feel home.

Normally a place, home is basically a feeling to me.
This time though, I am surprised to say how much it means to me having my things around. They are not even out of the boxes yet!

Being a true Icelander, I love books.
Or some might say, being my father's daughter.
In Denmark people go to the library. Your social security card is your library card, you use it at the doctors and to borrow books, both services free of charge.
In Iceland, people go and buy the book. I remember getting 7 books at Christmas once when I was a kid.

I have one piece of furniture, the commode my mother bought to put my clothes in when I was born. This one I moved from Iceland when I decided to settle down in The Serenety Country of Denmark. And this one moved with me yesterday.
All other boxes contain books.

We were 4 people moving and we took two trips with the mini van.

My AB (Amazing Boyfriend, or in the mother tounge; Storkostlegi Kaerastinn Minn) asked me if I really, really needed all these books to be out of the boxes.
Oh yeah. Need them. Have missed them so much. Some of them I haven't seen in 9 years.

I have allmost all books I have gotten in my life. All books I got in my childhood are there. I will be able to read
Astrid Lindgren's books to my kids, in Icelandic.
And I just saved them from my damp attic. Some of the boxes were falling apart.

All my fantastic art books are there. Art books are big and heavy.

I have some amazing shit in those boxes.
Every time I moved country, I'd send boxes home to Iceland, filled with books.

All the psycology books will be accessable to me now.
I love books with maps, enclopedias, atlases, picture dictionaries. Books about animals, books about plants. Books with patterns. Any book you could look in and find a picture you'd need for your art work. All of those are big books and heavy.

And what I have probably missed the most: my comics. Yeah baby, I have all my evil little comics in my apartment now.

Favorite bookstores in NY:
Strand
Forbidden Planet
The basement of Virgin Megastore (or wherever they keep the comics these days)

Why NY?
Because my heart is there this week. And if all goes well, I will be there with the rest of my body, in January/February.
Baby boy, son of my favorite girl in NY, will see the day of light for the first time this week. Thursday latest.
Now, how cool is that?

I love Borat. There. I've said it.

Loads of news from an exhausted Skotta. I decided to blog because so many people are asking wassup and I get tired of detailing it in all directions.

Am now officially moved in with Amazing Boyfriend dude. Not on paper but in boxes.

Have now quit my job. Yes, they offered me a position and yes, I said no thanks.
Why, one might ask, does such a beautiful blond say no to the job she has dreamed of for such a long time. After building a powerful empire that runs like a train on it's tracks?

Because her partner in crime, her closest co-worker, is now officially insane. And he is just soooo unlucky, the timing of his insanity is just not very good.
I am on a mission called the "Only Healthy People" mission. In slang; SAYSB(ye), or "Stay Away You Sick Bastards".
And if you decide to be a sick bastard when I am not, you are just unlucky. Or who knows, maybe it is the best thing for you?

Who knows?
The guy has been a pain in the arse for years.
He will most likely be a pain in the arse for years to come.
Lika all such men, he is charming in his own way, although eventually, the pathetic behaviour just outrules all charm there is.
Today I told them I didn't want the job. Afterwards they made an offer to the girl I have been working for, and she resigned on the spot when she knew I hadn't taken the post.
Maybe this will be a wake up call for the man.
Knowing loads of people his type, I doubt it. He will go on terrrorizing his co-workers and little brain damaged children.

Ces't la vie. Live and let live.

I am in on of the weirdest situations I have been in.
I am at a business meeting about film making.
In my home.

I could go, but decided to stay and be invisible.
It's fun. Kinda. Weird. Kinda.

Someone famous is in my living room.
Act normal everyone.

Anyways, I added some links. Check them out.
They are made by way cooler people than are sitting in my living room.

I am now officially looking for a job.
Things have officially gone to hell at work.

But first ... I'll sleep.

I haven't been able to get much sleep lately, so now I have nausea.
I have decided that in all matters of importance I will put myself first. And right now, sleep is on the schedule.

Funny how sometimes one just doesn't have the energy to get from the computer over to the bed. I have had that symptom for the past week. Somehow, it just hasn't been that attractive to go to bed.

My AB (Amazing Boyfriend) has been in Africa. He wen't to the Ivory Coast. When he got there, he found out that the Ivory Coast is on the list of countries you aren't supposed to travel to. They are starting a civil war over there.
Lucky to get out, he got back home this weekend.
I suddenly had a reason to go to bed again.
But not for sleep.

He bought a very cool car today. He will soon take me for a drive to France.
I love living on the European continent.

I am having the longest move I have ever had. I can't believe I'm the same chick that moved continents in 11 hours. The day of my departure in NY I packed all my stuff (was getting the last signature for my thesis the night before). All that could travel by mail was taken to the post office, the rest I took with me on the plane.
The man who checked me in asked me if I had my mother-in-law in my big suitcase (hah, a man that makes worse jokes than me).

This move has taken me a month. And I am still at it.
Now I have made myself a deadline, and I am going to be out by November 1st.

Not bad, a job and a move.

But first ... sleep.

I don't believe I'm posting still as I should be in bed.

I just rememberred that I made a joke today. Not a very funny one, but nevertheless a joke.
So here goes:

What's the difference between a filmmaker and a musician?
- the musician shows up in time.

Get it?

I could have made the joke worse, but lets leave it at that.

Okay, I know this is horrible.

I hardly ever blog anymore, and this time it is to link to some links I found on the site of Halli, whom I am now putting up there with the Gods.
The man is a genious but blogs in Icelandic so I hope he doesn't mind I am stealing from him all the time to share with some English speaking public.

Put your speakers on loud and klick here: Gunther.

Kudos to Halli for blogging constantly and making a cool life forhimself in NY. And for telling about his friends art show, while giving my friend Hulli who exhibited with, kudos for great artwork (and not mentioning if the friend made any cool stuff).

And now it's way past midnight and I am kicking myself for telling my boyfriend that I couldn't Skype after midnight!!! He is filming on the Ivory Coast (that is effin Africa where 3 isn't covering - means no mobile phone, no sms, no mms, for those who don't know 3) and called me for a friggin split second earlier this evening.

Love him but the stupidness of this evening just tops our communication by far these past months.
He calles from Africa. I get overexited and ask him to call again in 5 minutes, so I can pee and crawl into bed. He is totally cool with it. I pee and brush my teeth in record time and then lie in bed for very loooooong 3 minutes.
Phone rings. African connection again. And the, not the first, anti-climax climax : "(censor, censor, am really in a hurry, censor, people are waiting for me in the lobby and I am on a phone that says no-long-distance-calls, I miss you, and you are a prune, and I bought you a present in Spain, bye".

What do you do after a wonderful phone call like that?

You call your mom.

Then you check out the article your mom told you about on the internet.
A few hours fly by and all of a sudden you are in hikikomori.
This is now my favorite word although describing a very sad phenomena.

One thing about this wonderful boyfriend of mine. He is totally mindboggling. When I told him about the dkr 4500 ($ 747) Marc Jacobs boots I tried on the other day, he told me (giggling) I could just sell the silverware he inherited from his grandmother to buy the boots. With the same kind of essence to it, as when he said he would marry me solely for economic grounds (as in haha, you only have debt my dear, did you think I wanted you because of your money?)

The brain teaser here is that I know this is a dare, and he knows I wouldn't touch it.
That silver is ancient. He wants to sell it, I can't bear the thought. At the same time, I can't bear the thought of using it either.
And I would use those boots. You all know what boots are made for.
But the idea of selling the silver for boots that cost more than my monthly rent, is absurd. Buying those boots is absurd.
Devils advokate got me thinking about it for a split second while in the shock over the proposal.
The idea itself is just too naughty to be taken seriously.

My man is loved by women in my family for having, when travelling in Asia and seeing shoes he thought I'd like, bought two pairs (two sizes).
He was right, I LOVE the shoes. I love shoes although not on the Imelda Marcos scale. But no doubt about it, I love shoes.

And if anyone has a size 38 foot, I have an extra pair.

If I were an accessory, I'd be a horny, strappy, shoe.
- Shirley Bassey

I proudly own a pair of sandals that, were they jewlery, they'd be a thread thin gold bracelet.

What an amazing night.

I had a 3 hour talk with my favorite girl in NY. Well, I'm not sure we made it 3 hours, her husband came home. She has a boy coming out of her belly ... now! Kinda.
He is due in 3 weeks but it seems like he has decided to come sooner.
(On a private note, to my Amazing Boyfriend, who is now in Barcelona: She called me).

And before I start bitching, here's another website for you: http://www.giantstep.net
I just signed up, it's free. Am now awaiting my free T-shirt.
This is a very, very cool site, launched by my friend George in New York.
I reccommend this site especially to Hullboy, Sveimhugi, The Viking in NY, my Queen in London, and all of you out there interested in good music. They have cool stuff, discussion forums, and free stuff. Cool free stuff, like video phones.

And now to the bitching (while enjoying Nikka Costa on GiantStep):
Okay, I am writing this mainly because my boyfriend didn't get a chance to call me tonight. I know he is reading meeeee...
My boss called me and talked to me for an hour. Aparently she gave the old man a talk because I was not the only one tired of the vulcanic eruptions. Not bad, but not altogether great either. Now he knows I bitched. I am not really looking forward to Monday. I'm basically alone in the house with him (and some subs) because the rest of the staff is on Koloni.
I'm okay with it really. He's only angry at me when I'm away, not when I'm there.

Oh, well. Looks like I am not going to be there for long.
Seems like both the women they wanted to fire (to be able to hire me) are coming back on staff. One because they can't fire her (unions here are great), the other one because the old man doesn't have the guts.
So, November 1st I'm out of a job.

What I need now is:
1. A job.
2. Someone to write me a business plan
3. Someone to write some grant applications to the European Union

That's not asking for much, is it?

I better get working on it.

Some things just have to be shared.

Here is a friend of a friend, his name is Halli, and he is studying design at Parsons in NY. Kudos for that. His blog is in Icelandic, so I am linking you here to a website he made, called Shakeskin.
I know the Queen especially, will love this, and some of the Icelanders might recognize fellow countrymen there.

Okay, going back to work on Monday.

While I have been sick I have started a firm.
In my mind.

What I am hoping for is getting this idea of mine out of my brain and into reality.
Never done a business plan.
Never applied for grants.
Do not have any sense of money or the concept of a budget.
This business should kick off fine.

I am maybe crazy but I am not stupid.
I will get help and I will learn.
And according to some websites on the subject, I am a born leader and will become successful if only I am ready to work unlimited time for minimum wage for the first years.

Not that I am willing to do that but I am certain that my wages can't get lower than they are now so I am willing to take the chance.

Wish me luck.

Talked to my boss today.
She told me everything was going to hell at work so I should definetly stay away as long as I could.
Basically.

I told her that I was on the edge of not showing up again. Kinda.

We agreed upon me staying home for a while longer.

I have edited my links.
I took out the ones I don't check out anymore and those that have been inactive for a long time.

Whatever.

So, last night I went out for the first time in ages. I went to this premiere of a new Danish film called Kongekabale. The movie was good. I am not writing a rewiew, but I'll say this:
I will send a DVD to my mother when it comes out.

After the movie there was drinks and food at the movie theater. This is the first time I go to a premiere of a film, but will not be the last. It was cool although it is kind of an anti-climax to see an actor I otherwise respect drunk as a skunk afterwards.
What's up with that?

Maybe it's just me, I've always been like this. I always hated drinking with my teachers when in school. There was just something about seeing my teacher fall on the dancefloor, or a teacher grabbing my breast and holding it really hard, that made me loose respect. Duh, I wonder why ... ?
Not to mention the constant fear of doing something really stupid myself while drunk.

Well, no fear of doing stupid things while drunk anymore.

Back to the premiere.
What I am trying to get to is that at the after party, there was a lot of smoke. The revenge of the after party came today. My lungs have been grasping for air and I am couching like a dog again.

So I called work to tell them I was not as well as I had hoped for. At least I could not promise to be there monday, as I wanted to make sure I was well enough to go out of town with the kids.

"Well, we'll just have to cancel the little handicapped kids koloni then."

Great. The message I'm getting is that because of me, a bunch of brain damaged kids, that have otherwise been looking forward to going to this three day tour for a whole year now, won't get to go.

You see, because I'm not there, they can't plan the trip.

The 55 kids who have no scannable brain mailfunction get to go. They have competent staff to plan their koloni.

Since I sensed the threat in the phone call, I immediately turned on the "not to be fucked with" mechanism I use to be able to work with this co-worker of mine, who in his constant state of fear, mood-swings like a teenage girl. My message to this man has been for a year, that he can rage all he wants, it's none of my business. I have used the "say what you mean without being mean" together with "not to be fucked with" to get this message through.
If I am to be totally honest, there has also been a lot of ass kissing, as it has made my life there easier. I have got a lot of good stuff going there because I have been able to keep the old man alive and happy at work.

"I'm really sorry to hear that, I still can't promise you I'm there on Monday. You go ahead and do what you feel you need to do."

I think this is the last push I needed to get out of that place. Not that I haven't been looking for a job so far, just now I am going to put some extra efforts into applying.

I'll miss the kids.
