Sunday, March 28, 2004 There are so many different kind of blogs... There are those who bitch about nothing important all the time. I hope mine doesn't fall into that category. It is ment to be a blog where my friends in different continents can get updates of how I am doing. And those who know me, know to just scroll over the stuff they know doesn't make any sense. Like the trivial news that my washing maschine is making funny noises that weren't there when I bought it. But then they would read the news that I am not getting the teaching position I thought I had secured. Damn! I am a little bit dissappointed. But then again, I am not. You can't really be sad about anything when you have a life beyond your wildest dreams. Today I am having a day off. Even God took a day off. On this day off I have already made my man an omelet and baked pancakes. He is off to return later. Luv him. So today I have this big decision to make; am I going to get clean or get messy? It is the question between a shower or having a wild painting day. Am I going have a shower and spend hours on pampering myself? Or will I go crazy with loads of colors and some insane music that makes me happy inside? And as you all know me so well, the decision should not surprise anyone. I will do both! Paint first, then shower. My home is full of Cala lilies
And I have a date with my man tonight. posted by Skotta | 1:43 PM | Thursday, March 25, 2004 Okay, this one is too crazy not to blog about... The Invisible Countess is moving out. This is maybe not the best month for her to move out, she seems quite stressed. Maybe because she is in London, interwiewing for college. As she doesn't have the time to move out, she had her mother move for her. Her mother, and the mothers alcoholic husband. So they moved her stuff out. I can't even comment on what the room looks like after not being cleaned since August 1st, 2003. Lets just leave that part. All fine, until I get a phone call from the step-dad. They are missing the TV. I tell him where the TV is, and why I had to move it. I also tell him that she has more stuff still at the apartment, i.e. in the kitchen. All fine, he was very nice and understanding. He would take care of it. A few hours, and probably a few beers later, he calls me again. This time he is very rude and totally obnocious on the phone. He is coming over in an half an hour and there will be hell to pay if I haven't gotten her things together for him to pick up. He will make sure that his step-daughter will never enter this apartment again, and not clean nor hold any agreements she had with me. He continues to threaten me. Most of the conversation is built on the man's rage that I had no idea what to do with. I still have no idea what he was so angry about. The man is insane. I don't trust insane people. I left my house, as I sure as hell wasn't going to be there when he came. I came back this morning to check on my apartment and the only thing he seemed to have done apart from taking her stuff was take our names off the door. Not a biggie, her mail will probably reach her eventually anyway. Hopefully no acceptance letters from London will be sent return. Needless to say, I'm now changing my locks as they didn't leave her set of keys behind. posted by Skotta | 10:19 PM | Tuesday, March 23, 2004 Now playing D-A-D, Soft Dogs
What can I say? I'm in Denmark, this is metal. Very ugly cover, very, extremely ugly. I would have never bought this CD. Never even imagined myself posessing any of their CD's. This was a gift. Surprisingly, I actually really love this CD. It's a really, really good CD. Makes me turn all biker chick. They sound extremely familar, but in a familiar sort of way, not in a "oh my, one more bad rip-off" way. Not too many bands that can do that, and way too many have tried. I hate bands that sound like bad Radiohead/Coldplay rip off, and find way to many of them. A famous Danish one is Kashmir. I'll get back to them later. My take on it is, if it's been done once to the point of genious, stay away from it! Do not attempt to do it again if you are not the one who originally reached that genious. Nothing is new under the sun. But leave old truths be, unless you have a new way of telling them or a different side to show. I would like to note now that Coldplay is nowhere close to pure genious. Anyone who knows me well or has followed this page for a while knows how attached I am to Radiohead. Pure genious. I know very little of this band D-A-D except that my boyfriend has made some of their videos and that they are somewhat famous. They have been around forever and they are bullet proof. Solid stuff. D-A-D stands for Disneyland After Dark, but they had to change it because Disneyland sued them. Teaches you not to steal from corporate little mouses and ducks. And back to Kashmir. I am dying to see a film by Kasper Torsting called Rocket Brothers. And yeah, my boyfriend has touched upon that film... This is a documentary about creating. Kashmir plays a big role in this film and if I have understood it correctly, then Kasper the movie maker and the singer in Kashmir are friends. Aparently Kasper followed this singer/friend/fellow student at the film academy for 4 years. I don't know, sounds wild, but I haven't seen it. All I know is that it isn't your average rock and roll movie. Kashmir is quite popular in DK and if you check out their webpage you'll notice that they just won 4 awards at the Danish Music Awards. I still think they are a bad Radiohead/Coldplay rip off. They also rip off more artists. This is your typical coctail of "everything the band members love listening too". And like with the Beyonce album, I probably have take everything back I ever said about Kashmir after I have listened to them about a thousand times. I haven't got the t-shirt, but I got the poster... And now for some update from the weekend. Saturday As it was raining and we didn't want to get wet, we rented a car. Then we drove to the Zoo and looked at the giraffes. Then we went out for a steak at the best steak house in town. Then we drove some more and I drove against traffic and an intersection. Then we had a row. Then we made up. Sunday Brunch at Jorden Rundt. Looooong nap. Ate amazing Indian food. Visited his mom. Now know where he's got his good genes from. Moved furniture. Late late night now, went to Filmbyen. Saw my man's company and was totally impressed. Drove back to town in the middle of the night. Took gas. Returned keys. Taxi home. mmm.... sleep. Loads of first time things done this weekend. First time listening to Danish (light) metal. First time driving a car in a city bigger than Reykjavik. First time driving against traffic. First time meeting his mom. First time visiting his company. posted by Skotta | 8:08 PM | Thursday, March 18, 2004 I know this is getting a bit much but hey, if you read me, you read me: I am madly in love with my boyfriend. posted by Skotta | 11:10 PM | Wednesday, March 17, 2004 Wonderful Copenhagen After being cold to the bone for weeks ... spring is here! Not that I have been able to enjoy it much because I have been inside most of the day. I am actually sick for real. Cold. Sneezing and full of snot. But this evening, this wonderful, beautiful evening, I biked over to my nefiew's house and then back again after eating dinner and talking for a couple of hours. For those wondering, he is doing great. Happy as a chipmunk. I think this is my favorite weather. It is not cold at all, but not warm at all. It is just fresh. Jumper-weather. Jeans-and-light-jacket-weather. Soon-to-be-summer-dress-weather. Spring. Heating off, windows open during the day and night. Oh, and for those wondering... Boyfriend and I said goodbye on good terms this morning. Love him to pieces. Even though he calls me a control freak. I've been called that, and worse, before. (By the way, if you can say: "Been there, done that, got the t-shirt ..."; you're a groupie.) posted by Skotta | 11:09 PM | Tuesday, March 16, 2004 Snores What an anti-climax. The guy comes in and takes a nap. Really wants to make dinner togeather. I eventually manage to wake him up when the dinner is on the table. He is flat immediately afterwards. "Sweetie, can we at leas clear the table...?" "Yes, of course! .... just ten minutes ..." He is still asleep. Table is cleared, dishes are done, his favorite tea is made. "You are sooo sweeet". Yeah, sure. And I cancelled a date tonight because he asked me to. He wanted to be together because it is the only evening we have this week. This is my cue to start looking forward to not seeing him for a few days.
Sweet, my arse. posted by Skotta | 9:25 PM | Taking a sick day I am an immoral human being. I took a sick day and not only did I take a sick day, I am taking the week off. This lady is tired of having your average two days sick that get you over the worst, then showing up snotted at work again. No, this time I am going to get well before I show up for work. Well means physically, emotionally, and spiritually well. So let me describe my 2nd sick day at home. Yesterday I was sick for real and groggy in the head. Actually, I worked sick on Thursday, was sick on Friday and over the weekend. What do we have today, Tusday? Yesterday was spent on getting emotionally well. Talked my girlfriends ear off for 6 hours straight (if not 7). She has a reserved place in Heaven. Okay, 6th day sick. 3rd day off work. Woke up this morning and couldn't breathe. Snuff, snuff, spray in nose. Lozenge for a sour throat. Shower. Wake up boyfriend in a very nice way. Good morning boyfriend! Throw in some croissants while boyfriend showers. Eat breakfast with boyfriend. Boyfriend tears himself away to go to work. Call friend. Decide I don't feel like seeing Gothika today with friend. Pedicure. Mmmm, pedicure. Nice chatting on the phone with a girlfriend while doing my tonails. Ooooppppssss!!! Red nail polish bottle splashed all over bathroom floor and walls. Bathrooom looks like a murder scene. Bye, bye, girlfriend, have to save bathroom. Scrub, scrub, with nail polish remover. Finish toes, look beautiful. Do fingernails, fuck them up. Oh, well. Take bottles to the supermarket. Get shouted at by an old woman who is angry because I am biking on the sidewalk. Walk my bike to the next cheapo supermarket that has nicer stuff. Buy heaps. Bike home. Mmmm, sunflower rye bread with stuff. Phone call. Yes, I do remember you and giving you permission to call me today at 2 pm. Hour spent talking to a guy doing scientific reaserch on migraines. Learn a lot. Hmmm, turns out other migraine sufferers also get impared judgement during an attack. Vacumclean, ceiling to floor. Clean bathroom. Clean fridge. Clean windows. Windows! God, this is how my street looks like from here. Boyfriend is on his way home from work and I am blogging. Plan for evening: Mozarella & tomatoes with fresh basil, oil & vinegar. Pork chops with mushrooms and eggplant. Italian ice cream. Tea. Boyfriend-girlfriend activity. You see, you can't cure a sick body in a filthy environment. Now I have cleaned my temple and decorated it's toes. I can get well in peace now. Boyfriend is here! posted by Skotta | 5:38 PM | Monday, March 15, 2004 My brain is a mush. No, not like this,
more like this: posted by Skotta | 11:37 AM | Saturday, March 13, 2004 I'm not getting somthing. Maybe because it is 5 AM and I am up. It's about the bombing in Spain. The Spanish government has now declared that ETA is without a doubt responsible for the bombings in Madrid. They have told all their ambassadors to announce this. ETA does not agree, they have declared that they are not responsible for the bombings. Specialists say that the bombs don't match ETA profile (i.e. triggered by mobile phones). Al-Qaeda has on the other hand declared in London that they are responsible for the bombings. What I am not getting is the Spanish government. Why do they say that ETA is responsible instead of declaring that ETA is still a primary suspect? If this is meant to piss the al-Qaeda off, I doubt that it is working. Well, it is kinda revers psychology, I guess. It must suck if you try getting all this attention and then someone else gets the "honors". If this works then the Spanish are smart. Obvious but smart. And dangerous. Nothing more dangerous than ignorance. Except pissed off, and insulted ignorance. I have a feeling though that they are just so filled with rage when it comes to ETA that it colors their judgement. And I hope it isn't a stunt in Bush's campain. Funny how this just comes at the right time now that Kerry is winning. Us that thought that Bush had already cought Osama and was going to parade him at the right time during presidential election campain. Maybe he has no Osama but now he has a good reminder of 9.11. that surely takes the focus off the national budget and puts it back onto the war on terror. It's an ugly little world.
I might as well... While I'm at it, of course I have some thoughts about the other political topic that can drive me insane with rage. Guatanamo Bay Prisoners. Now they have the British tourists back home after being held for over two years illegally at Guatanamo Bay. Their families are suing the US and the British government. No news of the kids yet, so I guess they are still being held there. I imagine that if the kids weren't fucked up before they got there then they definetly are now. The Danish prisoner is back. They don't say much about how he is doing but they are considering him dangerous. They say he is a normal kid that turned evil. If you try to look for pics of the prisoners on Google Image Search, you get one from the UK Telegraph. I wonder why this is as I have seen plenty of footage in the newspapers and on TV. posted by Skotta | 5:40 AM | Friday, March 12, 2004 Top Ten Rules of Indian Film Making

When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast. - Lewis Carroll posted by Skotta | 1:23 PM | Sick at home. Not quite having a bad time though. As usually, I am entertained by the computer and the laundry. I love it when laundry gets done. It takes me a day because my washing maschine is so slow and loud. I have answerred a lot of mail and cleaned up my Inbox. I have eaten rice porridge. Those who have known me longest, hence, my family, will smile at the thought of me eating rice porridge. This is a meal I could survive on solely, were it not for the fact that I would die from lack of nutrition. Rice porridge (or in Icelandic: hrisgrjonagrautur) has been my favorite food since I was a baby. My family members have been heard imitating me in a high pitched voice, asking for hrisgjron or hrisgrjonagrautur. Oh, those charming family jokes. Hrisgrjonagrautur is also what we eat before the main meal at Christmas. I loved it so much that I could have just eaten this and skipped the main meal. When I was growing up, my auntie made it. She had a special formula, which kind of meant that she was really good at making it. Turns out we probably have similar taste buds because I seem to be the only one getting the right taste to this porridge. She died quite a few years ago and now I am the one who makes the porridge. I travel to Iceland, just to make that porridge at Christmas. hehehe, I'm funny. Actually what I do here, is that I go to the store and buy the thing in a bag. It tastes totally the same as the one I use hours mastering on Christmas Eve. So, for me, it is Christmas every day, from a bag, if I want it. Kind of like Duncan Hines. Why spend hours making a cake that will result in a thick cracker-like mass when you can just shake-a-cake out of a box, with the icing ready in a plastic can? Last, but not least: new link here to the left, called Ooops... Wrong World Syndrom. I love this link. posted by Skotta | 12:56 PM | Thursday, March 11, 2004 My day at work Had a hard time getting up this morning. I felt so bad, I dreamt that I had taken som kids to the pool. The kids had no respect for me and didn't listen. To show them how important it is to do as I said and obey the rules I pushed them under the water again and again. I held them under until there were no bubbles coming up. I felt horrible while doing this but coudn't stop myself. So one might say I woke up in a state of horror and shock. I gave myself permission to take a slow morning. At work, the first thing I did was share this dream with my boss. I love my boss. We had a great talk about the dream and about my fears of being to hard on the kids at work. After our talk over the morning cup of coffee, I worked on a paper called underretning. That basically means that we have given up on helping the kids and report the family to the officials. In this case the paper was on one of two brothers that are neglected. They are the sweetest kids I know but over the past months I have seen them slowly loose grip on their otherwise shaky little lifes. I am writing on the other brother tomorrow. These papers are a lot of work and have to be written with care. I spent two hours on this. I also had a meeting today with my supervisee. I am basically training a carpender to work with a kid with special needs. Don't ask. This morning I also wrote a treatment plan for that kid and sent it off to supply our application for more hours on the kid. Carpender guy is great with the kid but doesn't have the lingo to write reports and has no idea what a treatment plan is. Two hours there. Lunch. Love lunch, especially when I haven't eaten breakfast like today. Soup. I had just eaten the last spoonfull when my kid arrived. We are supposed to be 3 on staff with 8 kids. Two of our kids, well, actually 3 of them, need 1:1 attention. One of them is the boy with the Fetal Alcohol Syndrom (J). He was "mine" today. When the bus arrives I run out to get the J. He is a tiny boy so he was freezing on the way up to the building. First thing I do is help him with his clothes and then to the toilet. He hates washing his hands so we play a game where he tries to fool me to get away with not washing. No linience. "But I didn't touch my willie!" "Wash." J has just been operated on. He has a speech imparement due to Pierre Robins Syndrom, which has gotten worse after the operation. I rarely understand what he says. He looses his patience most of the time after repeating the sentences twice. He sighs and we are both sad and feel hopeless. On the way up to the house he asks me if I will take him with to Iceland. I tell him that is a great idea but not a realistic one. I tell him we can find books on Iceland. We look for books after he is finished in the bathroom. We find three books we want to read, one has a map over Europe. I read out loud to him. He is moved with my reading and disappears into the stories. I love reading to him. After the reading we go to the calender we made last week. He has a birthday this month so we marked off the calender and counted the days until his birthday. We decided to make a wish-list for the birthday. We talked about what it means to make a wish, and that some of them might not come true. One could not get all the thing one wished for ones birthday. Here is the list: 1000 insects A huge raccoon 3040 Iceland That the adults understand me better After making the list we decided to make a book (illustrated by me, text by J). Cover: Story of a racoon (showing a drawing of a raccoon) 1st page: Raccoon walks in the woods. His mother is never there. 2nd page: Raccoon gets run down by a car. J comes and brings him to the hospital. 3rd page: Raccoon gets operated on. J holds his hand. Raccoon gets a mask and never wakes up. Book done. Victory for me, first time I get J to talk about the operation. Now I have found out aproximetly how he experienced the operation. Basically all he rememberres is getting the oxigen-mask, bright light, the doctor with a mask. He is not quite sure what they did to his mouth and this is a part I have to help him with. The rest of the kids have shown up and it is time for our Thursday group in the Disco Room. The goal is to give our kids a shot at learning the games other kids play so that they can participate later on. Taking turns and learning rules, controling your impulses to shout out answers... this is so hard for our kids. My little one cannot sit still. No way. He is like a jumping bean all over the room and has no impulse control whatsoever. On top of his hyperaktivity he gets scared shitless when Jacob, who was a substitude in the group today, plays the fox. Jacob is totally the meanest looking fox and J totally buys his act. I therefor get an extra job of holding the kid in his frantic fear of Jacob. One of the favorite games in there involve helping each other taking t-shirts on... that is one of the funnies sights I have ever seen, a group of brain damaged kids helping a group of adults taking small sized t-shirts on. After the games we lay on the flor for relaxation. Some music is put on and the kids take a nap. Exept mine who cannot be still. After trying to hold this squirming little worm for weeks I finally tried an old trick I used with the autistic kids in the old days. I wrap him up in a matress and he loves it. Time for food. This is a tricky one as J has an eating disorder. I am therefor beside him while he eats. Correct a stream of bad lingo he picked up from the muslim mongol girl at the end of the table. Write in his book how his day was. Toilet time as the bus is coming soon. Help with clothes again. Out the door. The other kids were picked up an half an hour later today so I help the other staff get them ready, and write in their books that they did great in Disco. Send them off with the bus. Drop by in the big group. For those of you who didn't know, I work in a house where we intigrate the brain damaged kids with the normal kids. In the big group a substitute was helping a little boy getting a splinter out of the boys foot. They asked if I could help. The kid is dramatically hurting from the needle I am using so I show the kid and the audience that I'm not hurting him at all by demonstrating another needle through the outer layers of my skin. They audience sighs, this is sooooo coooool! I get the boy to participate actively by asking him if I wants to look while I am operating on his foot. He immediately gets out of the drama and the splinter is out in a second. The splinter is examined by the boy and the audience. We all agree that he is a brave boy. 50% of our kids come from homes where the parents are divorced. He is one of those kids and has had a tough life on top of that. Clean the room and the kitchen. Prepare some papers for Mondays staff meeting. Take my two buses home. Eat cauliflower gratin. Crawl into bed. Talk to four friends on the phone, chat with my big brother, my nefiew and a friend on msn. Spend way too much bloggin. Wonder if boyfriend will call. Call my mum.

8 PM and I'm in bed. Got message from healthy boyfriend telling that he wants to become a fireman when he grows up. Got a message from the same beautiful man telling me that he just put an oil fire out. We haven't seen each other for 1 1/2 day and the monster he had become in my mind is out and all communication between us is all corny again. Well, not quite. I didn't think he was a monster and we are not corny. But I totally miss him and I am going to be at the train station tomorrow night when he comes home. Who knows, maybe I'll have a surprise for him. I think this is called being in love.
I am home now, and I have the place to myself. I love it here. I'll have a new tennant from April 1st. The Invisible Countess is moving out, moving on in life. She will be studying in London next year. The girl who is moving in is a sweetheart and I really look forward to having her here. We have already decided on having a girlfriend tea-party in April, where we will invite our girlfriends to come and drink tea and eat cake. My niece is also coming in April. We are flirting with the idea of going to Berlin over Easter. I wonder if my fireman wants to join us? Okay, have to stop now, have popped too many m&m's while reading this and am in dear need of milk. posted by Skotta | 7:41 PM | Wednesday, March 10, 2004 Boyfriend is in Esbjerg learning to be a fireman. This has nothing to do with the burning horse. Nor the fact that we set fire to his place twice in one day. He has actually been sick this week. The reason I tell you this intimite detail of his private life is that I just learned that a couple should not get married until both have been sick at least once. This how you measure how much your relationship can tolerate. They say if you survive your partner being sick, you can survive anything.
Well, the guy survived my Elephant man week, so I figured it would be nice of me to survive his week of a terrible cold. Or a month. I'd be lying if I told you this has been a week filled with fun and games.

Wow, I just figured out where my blog from the 7th of this month went. Here it is now, on the right page: Well, it looks like I'm going to become a teacher.
I didn't get the job I applied for but I got an interwiew for a substitute position. We are two applying for the job. The reason I didn't get invited to interwiew for the position I wanted is because I am not a teacher and the union won't let me work as such. Therefor, they suggested that I took the teachers exam and stayed with them in the meantime. I figure I can take the teachers exam in a year because I can get so much merit (evaluated). The schools here have designed the education to the needs of people like me, who need to work full time. So we're talking two evenings a week plus homework. I could do that. No news otherwise. I got beaten by my mongol girl playing ping pong. I got her back later on the playground. posted by Skotta | 10:20 PM | Wednesday, March 03, 2004 My man is now working. Working means: while doing the dishes found out a way to save heaps of money on some movie he is making. This now has to be taken out of brain and put into computer. He has been doing this for hours now. It was really cute how this happened. I think this has somthing to do with a special effect involving a burning horse but I'm not sure. The idea of a burning horse is cool though. I had been sitting here by the computer reading a book that I find very funny, when I noticed that he had come out of the kitchen drying a plate, then gone in again, come out again drying a glass, gone in again, come out drying a plate, gone in again, come out drying something else... Some serious thinking was going on and now he is saving someone heaps of money. Did anyone say Mad scientist? Okay, apart from this, I have had heaps to think about. Like how badly do I want to be a special ed teacher in Denmark? ps have been surfing, have some interesting links for you: Fark Zarq And for Hullboy I found this:

Tuesday, March 02, 2004 My boyfriend likes me to make it clear that 1) he is the man 2) he was not the one coming out of the bathroom looking like Anime Boy. You all knew that, didn't yah? I have had a hell of a day at work. Caught my Autistic girl (lets call her Mette) and my Down Syndrom girl (lets call her Norah) kissing on the mouth in the computer room. Autistic girl doesn't know how to say no so she has learned to like kissing with tounges after being placed with the mongol one on the bus too often. The mongol one has no boundaries, and is in puberty. So how does one react to this? Skotta: "Hey you guys, stop that! You can't kiss on the mouth!" Norah: "Stay out of it, you cow!" Skotta: "Norah, you know you can't kiss Mette on the mouth. You are a muslim and muslims can't kiss their girlfriends on the mouth! Who can you kiss on the mouth?" Norah: "My husband." Skotta: "That's right, your mom and dad don't want you kissing your friends on the mouth. And don't call me cow, call me by my name." Norah: "I kiss the boys on the mouth during break at school!" Skotta: "Well, you know you can't do that, what do you think your dad would say if he found out?" Norah: "He won't, he's in Marokko." She has such a foul mouth. The conversation was too much for Mette so she ran away in panic. Norah is such a beautiful soul and a very active kid. She is very loving, gives people hugs, indipendent to such degree that you can't help her with anything at any time. Except when her parents appear, then she turnes off from the world. All of a sudden she can't dress herself, she doesn't smile. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't witnessed it. More later, I am being picked up by the boyfriend. We are buying a double duve. 2 meters times 2 meters 20. posted by Skotta | 5:59 PM | |
