Saturday, October 27, 2007 Do you know Sha Na Na? I just discovered Flip Wilson. Not too many clips with Flip Wilson but they are worth going through. Child of it's time. This is not the funniest one but a good example. And then I found Mr. Bunny! Old stuff, but still ... Labels: Of fun and games posted by Skotta | 5:44 AM |Okay, here's what's happening. I woke up this morning and my back hurt badly. As it was day 3 of Minilla with fever, I decided to take some pain killers to be able to attend to the boy today. I can't take all painkillers but a good combo of something simple has been reccomended for back pain so I took that. Pinex and Ibuprofen, a small dosis. Well, I guess it is clear to me now that I can't take Panodil, Pinex or such. I got a migraine that could have killed an elephant. Had to take Relpax. Got a reaction that could have killed 10 elephants. Attending to a Minilla with fever, or trying to, when you have a ten elephant headache and nausea gets you pretty exhausted. Of course, being the mad woman I am, with my special Disease of More, and in the honor of another mad woman I know (who showed up bleeding from the head after her man had given her a good beating to do a radiointerwiew on alcoholism and co-dependency), I put a mascara on and my best outfit and went to see the good doctor. I had an appointment I couldn't miss. Afterwards, I figured, I might have walked out of there with the right prescription if I had explained that I do get migraines a lot and that I in fact had one sitting there in front of the good doctor. When you actually sit there with a migraine (wich, as it manifests itself in me, main symptom is impaired judgement), you go "No, no, I hardly ever get migraines" because you are remembering that period of your life when you had them constantly for 9 months. What can I say? It was my first visit with this doctor, I haven't been since I moved to the hood, and I wanted to make a good impression. At least I managed to find out that Minilla doesn't have pneumonia. Then AB came home and I passed out. Woke up to eat dinner. Passed out again. Then Minilla wakes us up at 2 am caughing. We discover diaper leakage. Minilla is pulled up from wet spot in his own bed and into our bed. Now I have a kicking boy and a snoring man keeping me awake. And that leads to: Me and YouTube on the sofa. Anywho. I am a big fan of Johnny Cash. Praise to the woman who got me hooked. I have to say though, I don't think he nailed the hottest sister. Anita was the hot one. The other two were drags. And how corny were those sisters? I guess June was the funny one, but man, did she have many teeth! I haven't seen the movie, so what do I know. But Johnny was the man. Labels: News from the home front, Of fun and games posted by Skotta | 4:16 AM |I am madly in love with YouTube. Here's something. Pete Seeger Pete Seeger, a folk singer, political activist, communist, and author, had a show on TV called the Rainbow Quest. You might know him to be the man who wrote songs like "Where Have All the Flowers Gone" and "We Shall Overcome". Well, the Rainbow Quest, 38 hour long shows, had guests like Bernice Johnson Reagon, Elizabeth Cotten, and Missisippi John Hurt. And Johnny Cash. Here's young Bernice, today Dr. Bernice. One of my favorites is a video where Pete tells the story of Abiyoyo I urge especially Sveimhugi to check this man and this material out. And of course all the fun stuff with the Johnny Cash and the Carter Family ... Oh yeah, and Pete wrote this too Labels: Of fun and games posted by Skotta | 3:27 AM |Monday, October 01, 2007 Spent the morning in the company of my homegirl. We hung out windowshopping, she frequently commenting "I'll buy this Saturday" wich made us both feel like we could afford shopping. I looked like your average hillbilly wich made me feel like one of those eccentric rich artists types who have so much money they don't give a shit what they wear. This is my favorite gear. Preferably stepping out of a taxi, wearing my skirt over my pajamapants, my stuff in a plastic bag advertising your local supermarket. Being raised in the country of Bjork one believes one can get away with such behaviour without being thought of as a drunk who just got his monthly check and is now stepping out of a taxi with all his belongings in a plastic bag, to go buy beer and cigarettes. Anyways, so, looking like a hillbilly, me and my homegirl went for coffee and our pick was this terriblie trendy expresso machine store and café in the city center. There we invested in the most expensive lattes I have ever come accross. We did because we thought this price meant that the latte provided an orgasm. It came close. The free glossy mag you could read while waiting for your diamond priced latte turned out to be an ad for the company and revealed that it actually was Nestle. Nestle we associate with childhood memories of chockolate milk pulver in a yellow box with a rabbit on it. And baby food. Not quite a orgasm, not even a Harry met Sally orgasm (which was considered, if only for the cameras watching us drinking our coffee). Not a dissapointment either. The morning was an alltogether pleasurable experience due to the wonderful company. More. Finally Joost. I don't know if you know this but here in Denmark you have to pay something called "Media Licence" to the state run television network. It's like this in socio-democraticly run countries. You used to pay licence if you had a TV. Now, because you can access some selected TV broadcasts on the internet, they want you to pay. If we all were to practice this, I would then for example be able to charge the state run TV station for their access to my blog. Don't care if they read it or not, they access the device that can access my blog, so they should pay me licence. I know, it's absurd. Reality, nevertheless. I don't have a TV, and haven't had one for years, but all of a sudden I have to pay for TV I don't watch because I have a computer. This is why people like me adore business men like the ones who stand behind Joost, who happen to be the infant terrible guys behind Skype. I urge you to support this initiative and visit the page if you haven't already. It's basically free internet TV. And now, for the sadder things. Louise Maxwell passed away. For those of you who are not aware of who this woman is, meet her as Miss Moneypenny, M's secretary (you know guys, from the James Bond films!): She was a wonderful Miss Moneypenny. See her latest video on YouTube. ![]() I am a hopelessly devoted fan. Awesome website. I just want to say this to the Queen: I can't comment on your website, the system freezes when I want to tell you that you and Ringa look gorgeous and that you are and will forever be my Queen. I can't wait to see you guys. And I love you and miss you and adore you. On another note: Three people are talking on the other side of town about a girl named Tiffany. More about that later. Labels: Of fun and games posted by Skotta | 11:46 PM |Saturday, June 23, 2007 You guys need to see this. Meet Paul Oscar (Páll Óskar) calender boy by Oddvar. I just need to say this: I am constantly thinking of my woman in Texas who is about to give birth any day now. Labels: Kudos, Of fun and games posted by Skotta | 1:28 PM |Friday, June 22, 2007 Minilla's favorite number to watch when I'm on the internet. He sits on my lap and watches this in another frame. Labels: Of fun and games posted by Skotta | 4:47 PM |Friday, May 25, 2007 Wello, wello. Home alone for the weekend. Well, alone as one can be with a spotted baby. You know what this means!? Skotta's escapades on the internet will be giving you loads of fun and games! ![]() You might ask, what is the cause of my solitude? AB is having a weekend with the other Gelendewagen enthousiaists. (Do you spell it like that? Enthousi ... ists? Is there such a word?) Again, for those who just tuned in, a Gelendewagen is a Mercedes Benz from what they call the 300 GD series. Roughly translated, Gelendewagen means terrain car or in a more simple language: A jeep. Yup. There are a few of them, those guys who like jeeps, in this God forsaken, completely and utterly flat country. A Danish jeep enthousiast/ist (whatever) is a term that makes an Icelander giggle. My mad Dane has not only rolled around three times up in the Icelandic highlands in this specific car, he also shipped the wreck to Denmark (where it now stands in my garage), bought a new (old) one and shipped that one to Iceland! And then he hooks up with the others for a weekend and they drive around in mud and rivers and in the dark using GPS and stuff. He only got to go because he promised me to come back filled with all that yummy testosterone I so like. Talking about fun and games. Besides, I'm counting the days ... because I am going to have as many days off eventually. He also did this last year and left me with a newborn so I guess I have almost a week off now. You see, I am going to go to Spain with my homegirl in August. Neither one of us can afford it but we are very well connected ... ![]() Never been to Spain. Okay, here's the kudos part: Two of my girls are giving birth in the next couple of weeks time. One here in Denmark, the other one in Austin, Texas. Brave women, both of them. If you girls are reading me, just know that I am thinking of you and sending love and strength. You won't be reading me much after the birth ... I had a chat with AB's mother today. Told her that if it was up to me I'd be doing nothing but breeding from now to menapause. She loved that. Labels: News from the home front, Of fun and games posted by Skotta | 8:16 PM |Thursday, March 15, 2007 Note new link titled Georg Bjarnfredarson in the column Entertaining Stuff. Proud to present, and be quicker than Steinrikur to discover this. Labels: Of fun and games posted by Skotta | 6:08 PM |Monday, March 12, 2007 Home again. Wait a minute?! Where do I live? In boxes, I think. Exhausting days, survived with the help of my AB's lovely mother. The woman has a heart of gold and my boy is totally in love with her. Shame I can't use her as full time nanny. I am officially packing now. Putting things in boxes and stuff. We are to move on Saturday and so far, no time schedule has held. It also looks like all the weekends we used dreaming up a kitchen and a bathroom were waisted. The bright idea of having everything done before we moved in is out the window. Just as good. We would have been paying of an extra loan and double rent forever as the carpender who was to make an offer on the job has evaporised. And we know him! I pray the man hasn't come to any harm and isn't hospitalized. Enough of that and more of fun and games. Meet the people living at my house. Then listen to their upcoming single, released on Friday, called lille dreng, with the lovely Rebecca doing vocals. Rebecca is only 17 so she got the pink room with the pink bed in our house. You might ask yourselves: "Now why is a reggae band from Arhus staying at Skotta's little house?" Well, for the simple reason that AB is making the video to their upcoming single and since he is brilliant and I am trying to get a more positive relationship to dreads (hence not connecting the do with a molotov coctail), and the house was empty anyway ... We did jump to IKEA and buy a sofabed so we could break the house in ourselves. My sis dropped by on her way home from Malaga (that's how we do it in Europe, drop by Denmark on our way home to Iceland from Spain) so she spent the night there with us. She left us some lovely ham and cheese, both our portion and hers. So sys, what to do with that yummy Spanish ham and cheese? And now you know, there is a sofabed. I wanted to write some more but I have to go to bed. You see, there is another day tomorrow. And today the dentist had to wake me up a few times. I kept falling asleep in the chair. It has never happened to me before. This writer calls herself Mengella and has something on her mind. I loved reading this but then again, you know me, I tend to lean to the dark side. Enjoy! Labels: Of fun and games, Of the fair country posted by Skotta | 6:17 PM |Sunday, February 11, 2007 I saw Casino Royal last night. Lovely movie. Lovely, lovely. Made me realize that the Queen is a genious and that her Christmas calender was awesome. The movie had some very cool retro shots that I really, really liked, and the graphichs in the beginning were awesome. I have to say that there has been a more awesome title song in the history of Bond movies. And needless to say, I think AB would love seeing this movie. Me and my homegirl had a girl's night out. AB is working a lot next week so this was my treat. I loved going to the movies with a girlfriend and I was totally envious when she told me she had spent the whole day by herself. Whatever. I get to spend all next week with my lovely Minilla who is all over the place. I just want to point out to you that it is that magic time again. It's Eurovision time. Here you can see some of the Icelandic contestant. Horrid, horrid photos. The showdown in Iceland is on February 17th. The showdown in Denmark was last night. The winner was a man in drag and his song is called Drama Queen. ![]() Here you have some more info on that guy and if you are lucky you can see the video. I couldn't. You might think that a man as a woman in Eurovision is news to the contest. No, of course not. Don't you remember Dana International who won for Israel in '89? Although Dana is not a drag queen but a transsexual woman. No feathers, all woman. Labels: Of fun and games posted by Skotta | 10:42 PM | |
